Understanding QuickCheck Workflows
12-4 EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use
On-Device EWS
When on-device EWS is enabled, EWS is calculated at the monitor. The early warning
scores and alert messages are displayed in a QuickAlerts advisory window when you
touch Save or Save Now to save a record. When you touch Acknowledge to confirm that
you have reviewed these scores and alert messages, the EWS data is saved to the patient
record on the monitor. The data is included in HL7 format when the record is exported.
EWS with IGS
A qualified Philips Service Representative works with your technical staff to install and
configure the connection between your monitor and IGS.
On the monitor, EWS (either MEWS or SPS) is calculated and alert messages are
generated. The calculated scores and messages are sent to IGS.
When EWS with IGS is enabled:
• The monitor identifies the patient ID and authenticates the user ID through IGS.
• Early warning scores and alert messages are generated by and displayed on the
VS30 monitor and sent to IGS.
• Patient records are automatically exported to IGS.
• Your patients are admitted to the IGS server as well as to the hospital’s EMR system if
configured to do so.
• Follow your facility’s IGS protocols.
In addition to the information in this document, see the IntelliVue GuardianSoftware
Instructions for Use.
Understanding QuickCheck Workflows
Your organization might require one or more of the following authentication,
identification, or validation steps:
• User authentication (operator login) to admit a patient.
• Patient identification checked against hospital database.
• User authentication (operator login) to view patient records.
• Validation of patient records by an authorized user.
• User authentication (validator login) before validating patient records.
To support these requirements, your system administrator configures a QuickCheck
workflow on the VS30 monitor. The system administrator provides the information you
need, such login names or passwords, for the configured workflow.
The VS30 with on-device EWS supports all QuickCheck workflows.
EWS with IGS supports only three QuickCheck workflows, which are described later in
this chapter:
• Workflow 3
• Workflow 4
• Workflow 5
