EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use 12-3
Early Warning Scoring on the VS30 Monitor
When configuring EWS for your monitor, your system administrator can lock alarm
limits. When alarm limits are locked, you cannot adjust them in measurement menus
or in the Alarm Settings menu.
Depending on your facility’s requirements for user ID authentication, patient
identification, and/or patient record validation, the VS30 can be configured to integrate
with your facility’s systems (such as ADT) to automatically identify and authenticate user
and/or patient ID as part of the workflow.
If EWS has been configured for your monitor, the main screen includes the following
indicators:
An EWS pane is added above the NBP pane on the main screen to track the number
of required parameters. When all required parameters have been collected, the EWS
pane indicates that you must save the record in order to view the EWS results.
A yellow asterisk appears in the numeric pane for each vital sign that is required for
calculating the early warning score.
A yellow asterisk in the Observations and Assessments pane indicates that all
required observations and assessments must be completed before the early warning
score can be calculated.
When you perform a spot check and touch Save, or if you touch Save Now to perform a
manual save in Interval or Continuous monitoring mode, the following occurs:
All vital signs data, observations, and assessments, are analyzed.
If you have not supplied all data required by QuickAlerts EWS or QuickCapture, a
message opens to inform you of the missing data. You can touch Continue Editing to
cancel the save and supply the missing data, or you can touch Save to save the
record without including the missing data.
The monitor opens a QuickAlerts advisory window that displays SPS and/or MEWS
scores, along with suggested actions based on the scores. The window remains open
until you touch the Acknowledge button in the window.
When you touch the Acknowledge button in the QuickAlerts advisory window, the
EWS data is saved to the patient record. Your system administrator can configure a
timeout period of 5 or 15 minutes to automatically close the QuickAlerts advisory
window if you do not touch Acknowledge. When the window closes due to timeout,
the record is saved.
Notes:
The monitor cannot be shut down if the QuickAlerts advisory window is open.
If an alarm occurs while the QuickAlerts advisory window is open, the advisory
window closes and the record is not saved. You must resolve the alarm condition
before attempting to save the record again.
If you are connected to IGS, the record is automatically sent to IGS and a message
appears to indicate that the export was successful.
EWS on the EarlyVue VS30 can be managed in one of two ways:
On-device EWS
EWS with IGS
