Using QuickCheck Workflows with IGS and EWS
12-6 EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use
Using QuickCheck Workflows with IGS and EWS
When the EarlyVue VS30 is connected to IGS, only the following QuickCheck workflows
are supported:
QuickCheck Workflow 3: Requires a valid Patient ID. User credentials are not
required.
QuickCheck Workflow 4: Requires a valid Patient ID. User credentials are not
required. Record validation is required before sending unattended records to the
hospital EMR. For more information, see “Attended and Unattended Patient Records”
on page 3-27.
QuickCheck Workflow 5: Requires a valid Patient ID and authentication of user
credentials for admitting a patient and for reviewing patient records.
Your system administrator or biomedical engineer informs you of the workflow
configured for your monitor. The information in Chapter 3, “Working with Patients and
Patient Records,” applies to all workflows, but there are special considerations when
using workflows 3, 4, and 5 with IGS.
The following sections provide basic information about using workflows 3, 4, and 5 with
IGS and EWS.
Using QuickCheck Workflow 3 or 4 with IGS and EWS
When using Workflow 3 or Workflow 4 with EWS and IGS, you begin by scanning the
patient ID at the bedside. The monitor connects to IGS and identifies the patient ID in the
hospital EMR system.
After the patient identification is complete, you capture the patient’s vital signs as
required by the QuickAlerts configuration and provide QuickCapture observations and
assessments as required by the QuickCapture configuration.
When all vital signs, observations, and assessments are complete, you touch Save or
Save Now. The VS30 monitor analyzes the data and opens a QuickAlerts advisory
window. The window displays the MEWS or SPS scoring and risk bands, along with
suggested actions, if configured.
When you touch the Acknowledge button in the QuickAlerts advisory window, the
patient record—including EWS and QuickCapture data—is saved in the monitor.
Notes:
Your system administrator can set a timeout period of 5 or 15 minutes for the
QuickAlerts advisory window. The window closes automatically after the timeout
period, even if you do not touch Acknowledge. If the window closes due to timeout,
the record is automatically saved.
You can open the saved patient record to review the EWS score.
