Cleaning and Disinfecting the Philips Patient Cables
For details on cleaning and disinfecting the Philips patient cables, refer to the instructions
provided in the cable package. The instructions below are general minimum guidelines.
For critical applications, Philips suggests using disposable single-use accessories.
Caution
• Do not reuse Philips FAST single-use accessories.
• Do not use alcohol to clean the cables. Alcohol can cause the cables to become brittle and to fail
prematurely.
• Do not immerse or autoclave the cables.
• Do not use ultrasonic cleaners on the cables.
• Do not clean electrical contacts or connectors with bleach.
To clean the cables
1 Dampen a soft cloth with alcohol-free hand soap.
2 Wring any excess moisture from the cloth and gently clean the cables.
3 Clean the areas again with a damp cloth moistened with water only.
To disinfect the cables
1 Dampen a soft cloth with sodium hypochlorite (chlorine bleach), 3% solution in water.
Caution
Sodium hypochlorite may discolor the cable.
2 Wring any excess moisture from the cloth and gently clean the cables.
3 Clean the areas again with a damp cloth moistened with water only.
