- Safe and effective disposal of equipment
• For advice and information, contact your Philips Service Organization and see
http://www.healthcare.philips.com/main/about/sustainability/recycling/index.wpd for more
information.
• Before disposing of an EarlyVue VS30 monitor, delete all patient information. For instructions on
deleting patient data, see the EarlyVue VS30 Vital Signs Monitor Service and Repair Guide.
• For disposal of parts and accessories such as thermometers, probe covers, SpO
2
sensors, or CO
2
sampling lines, where not otherwise specified, follow facility policies and local regulations
regarding disposal of hospital waste.
• To protect confidential patient information follow these guidelines:
- Do not leave the monitor unattended.
- Ask your system administrator to enable one or both of the following settings to hide or
delete patient records after they are successfully exported to the hospital EMR system:
- Hide Exported Patient Records hides exported records after a configured interval, so
they are no longer visible on the Records menu. The records remain stored in the
monitor’s patient database, but can only be viewed again if the system administrator
disables the Hide Exported Patient Records option.
- Delete Exported Patient Records deletes exported records after a configured period of
time. The records are removed from the monitor’s patient database.
• Passwords restrict access to the system administration and service functions. Only qualified
service personnel can access these functions. The password does not protect electronic health
information (EHI).
