Patient Information Fields
3-12 EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use
• Gender — The patient’s gender. Valid selections are: blank, Male, and Female.
• Age or Date of Birth — The patient’s age or date of birth. Either of these fields, but
not both, can be enabled.
If the patient type is Neonatal, the unit of measure for Age is days rather than years.
• Height
• Weight
• Department — The department in which the monitor is used. Maximum length is 25
characters.
Considerations
Before entering information in the patient information fields, note the following:
• Your system administrator can customize the patient information field labels on the
monitor to display something more meaningful for your facility. For example, instead
of Location ID, the monitor can display Bed ID. The customized field labels appear in
the New Patient Menu, the Edit Patient Menu, the Records menu, and printouts.
• Your system administrator can configure the monitor so that you are required to enter
a patient ID in the New Patient Menu before taking vital signs measurements.
Entering a patient ID before taking measurements can prevent sending a patient
record with the wrong patient ID to the EMR.
• In this guide:
- The term patient ID refers to MRN, Location ID, or Transaction ID.
- The term patient information refers to all of the fields in the New Patient Menu,
the Edit Patient Menu, the Records menu, or printouts.
• Your system administrator specifies whether an information field is required. An
asterisk (*) appears next to all required patient information fields.
Primary Patient ID
Your system administrator configures a primary ID, which can be the MRN, Transaction
ID, or Location ID.
In the New Patient Menu and Edit Patient Menu, the primary ID field is enclosed in
brackets (for example, [MRN]).
To save a record with an ID, you must enter information in the primary ID field. If you do
not enter information in the primary ID field, the record will be saved as ID Unknown. All
records saved as ID Unknown are listed only on the Pending Records tab of the Records
menu.
The primary ID appears in each patient record in the patient record lists.
Your system administrator can configure the monitor to check the primary ID that you
enter at the monitor against patient IDs stored on the Intellibridge Enterprise (IBE) server.
If the patient ID is identified in the IBE server, the server returns the patient ID information
and populates the corresponding fields on the monitor.
