This document describes the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart toothbrush, a Bluetooth-enabled electric toothbrush designed to provide superior oral health care.
Function Description
The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart is a power toothbrush equipped with advanced features to optimize brushing performance and track usage. It offers five distinct brushing modes: Clean, White+, Gum Health, DeepClean+, and Tongue Care. Each mode is designed for specific oral care needs and can be used with different intensity levels (low, medium, high). The toothbrush automatically recognizes the attached brush head and selects the recommended mode and intensity level for optimal results.
The device is Bluetooth-enabled and connects to the Philips Sonicare app, which provides real-time feedback on brushing behavior, tracks missed spots, offers timely reminders, and provides practical tips for improving oral hygiene. This app-connected experience aims to help users achieve unprecedented oral health.

Usage Features
- Brush Heads: The toothbrush comes with a range of brush heads, including Premium Plaque Defense, Premium Gum Care, Premium White, and Tongue Care+ (specific types only). These brush heads are equipped with smart brush head recognition technology.
- Smart Brush Head Recognition: A micro-chip within the brush head communicates with the handle, allowing the toothbrush to automatically recognize the brush head and select the recommended mode and intensity level. It also tracks brush head wear and reminds the user when it's time for replacement.
- Brushing Modes:
- Clean Mode: A 2-minute mode, recommended at intensity level 3, for a thorough and complete clean. It provides BrushPacer feedback every 20 seconds.
- White+ Mode: A 2-minute 40-second mode, recommended at intensity level 3, for removing stains and polishing teeth. It includes a polishing phase after the initial cleaning.
- Gum Health Mode: A 3-minute 20-second mode, recommended at intensity level 3, designed for gum care.
- DeepClean+ Mode: The duration depends on app connection. In connected mode, it runs for 2 minutes with BrushPacer feedback every 20 seconds. In non-connected mode, it runs for 3 minutes with BrushPacer feedback every 30 seconds, ensuring even brushing across all 6 segments of the mouth.
- Tongue Care Mode: A 20-second mode, recommended at intensity level 1 with the Tongue Care+ brush head, for cleaning the tongue.
- Intensity Settings: Users can choose between 3 different intensity levels: low, medium, and high. The intensity is automatically selected based on the brush head but can be manually adjusted during brushing.
- Pressure Sensor: The toothbrush features a pressure sensor that alerts the user (via a change in vibration and a purple light ring) when too much pressure is applied, helping to protect teeth and gums. This feature can be activated or deactivated.
- Brush Head Replacement Reminder: An amber light blinks to remind the user to replace the brush head based on pressure applied and usage time. This reminder can also be activated or deactivated.
- BrushPacer: An interval timer with short beeps and pauses to guide users to brush different sections of their mouth for optimal cleaning.
- Easy-start Feature: This feature gradually increases the power over the first 14 brushings to help new users adapt to the Philips Sonicare. It works in all modes except Tongue Care+ and can be activated or deactivated.
- Travel Case: A travel case is included (specific types only) to store the handle and brush heads. Some models include a USB charging travel case, allowing charging via a laptop or wall-mounted USB socket.
- Charging Glass: For specific models, a charging glass is provided. The handle can be placed in the glass on the charging base for wireless charging.
- Brush Head Holder: A holder (specific types only) is provided for storing brush heads.
Maintenance Features
- Toothbrush Handle Cleaning: Remove the brush head and rinse the metal shaft area with warm water to remove residual toothpaste. Wipe the entire surface of the handle with a damp cloth. Avoid using isopropyl rubbing alcohol, vinegar, or bleach as they may cause discoloration. Do not clean in the dishwasher.
- Brush Head Cleaning: Rinse the brush head and bristles after each use. Remove the brush head from the handle and rinse the connection with warm water at least once a week. Do not clean in the dishwasher.
- Charger and Travel Case Cleaning: Unplug the charger and travel case before cleaning. Wipe their surfaces with a damp cloth.
- Glass and Brush Head Holder Cleaning: Clean with water and mild soap, then dry with a soft towel. Both are dishwasher-safe.
- Storage: For extended periods of non-use, unplug the charger, clean the device, and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Recycling: The product should not be disposed of with normal household waste. It should be handed in at an official collection point for recycling.
- Rechargeable Battery Removal: Instructions are provided for safely removing the rechargeable battery for disposal at the end of the product's life. This process involves depleting the battery, disassembling the handle, and carefully detaching the battery, ensuring safety precautions are followed.
