Do you have a question about the Plusmed Jumbo pM-K05 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Plusmed pM-K05 Jumbo is a fully automatic, digital blood pressure monitor designed for self-measurement on the upper arm. It utilizes the oscillometric method to provide fast and reliable measurements of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as well as pulse frequency. The device is clinically tested and offers high measurement accuracy, emphasizing user-friendliness. Its intended use is for individuals to monitor their blood pressure at home.

Function Description

The pM-K05 Jumbo measures blood pressure by inflating a cuff on the upper arm and then gradually deflating it while detecting pulse waves. The device automatically inflates the cuff to an appropriate pressure. During deflation, it displays the cuff pressure and, once a pulse is detected, a heart symbol blinks on the screen, accompanied by an audible beep for each heartbeat. Upon completion of the measurement, the systolic and diastolic blood pressure values, along with the pulse frequency, are displayed. The results remain on the screen until the device is switched off or automatically powers down after 3 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

The device features an integrated clock with a date display, allowing it to store not only blood pressure values but also the exact time and date of each measurement. It can store up to 120 measurements for two individual users (User 1 and User 2), making it suitable for tracking blood pressure trends over time for two people. Users can select their profile before measurement, and the device can display an average of the last three measurements, as well as individual past readings.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Measurement Procedure: Oscillometric, corresponding to Korotkoff method: Phase I (systolic) and Phase V (diastolic).
  • Display: Digital LCD screen.
  • Measurement Range:
    • SYS/DIA: 30 to 280 mmHg (in 1 mmHg increment).
    • Pulse: 40 to 200 beats/minute.
  • Static Accuracy:
    • SYS/DIA: ±3 mmHg.
    • Pulse: ±5% of reading.

  • Battery Life: Approximately 1000 measurements with 4 AAA alkaline batteries.

Usage Features

  • Battery Installation: Requires 4 AAA 1.5V batteries, inserted according to polarity. A low battery warning icon indicates 20% power remaining, while a blinking icon signifies empty batteries that need replacement. The device will be blocked until batteries are replaced.
  • User Selection: The device supports two users. Before each measurement, ensure the correct user profile is selected using the MEMORY button after pressing and holding the TIME button for 3 seconds.
  • Time/Date Setting: After battery insertion, the clock defaults to TIME 12:00 and DATE 1-01. The user must manually set the correct year, month, day, hour, and minute using the TIME and MEMORY buttons. The measurement unit (mmHg or kPa) can also be set.
  • Cuff Placement: The cuff should be placed on the upper arm, approximately 2-3 cm above the elbow. It should be secured comfortably but not too tightly, ensuring no gap between the cuff and the arm. The arm should be rested on a table with the palm upwards, supported by a cushion, so that the cuff is at heart level. Users should remain seated quietly for 2 minutes before measurement, with legs uncrossed, feet flat on the floor, and back and arm supported.
  • Measurement Interruption: Measurements can be stopped at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button, which will automatically deflate the cuff.
  • Memory Recall: Pressing the MEMORY button allows users to view the average of the last 3 measurements, followed by individual past readings (MR1 to MR120).
  • Memory Full Warning: If the memory is full, new readings automatically overwrite the oldest ones. A "memory full" message will briefly appear on the display.
  • Memory Cancellation: All stored readings can be deleted by pressing and holding the MEMORY button for at least 5 seconds until "CL" appears, then releasing and pressing it again while "CL" is flashing. Three short beeps confirm deletion.
  • Error Messages: The device displays specific error codes (ERR 1, ERR 2, ERR 3, ERR 5) if issues occur during measurement, such as no pulse detected, arm movement, prolonged inflation, or unacceptable pressure differences.

Maintenance Features

  • General Care: Protect the device from extreme temperatures, humidity, dust, direct sunlight, impacts, and drops.
  • Cuff Handling: The cuff contains a sensitive air-tight bladder and should be handled carefully. Avoid twisting or buckling it.
  • Cleaning: Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use petrol, thinners, or similar solvents. Spots on the cuff can be removed with a damp cloth and soapy water; the cuff should not be washed.
  • Avoid Opening: Do not open the device, as this will invalidate the manufacturer's calibration and warranty.
  • Battery Removal: If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Disposal: Batteries and electronic instruments must be disposed of according to local regulations, not with household waste.
  • Calibration: The device is guaranteed for 2 years from the date of purchase. Unauthorized opening or improper handling will void the warranty.
