Suspension Maintenance

Slider Wear
Measure slider thickness at
several points along the
rail. Have your dealer
replace the slider when it’s
worndowntothetopof
the wear groove (A). Do
not operate the snowmobile if
slider thickness measures less
than 7/16 (1.1 cm).
n Pre-Ride Suspen sio n Inspectio n
Loose nuts and bolts can reduce your snowmobiles reliability and
cause needless repairs and down time. Before beginning any
snowmobile trip, a visual inspection will uncover potential problems.
Check the following items on a weekly basis or before any long trip:
n C heck suspension mounting bolts for tightness.
n C heck rear idler wheel bolts for tightness. S ee page 101.
n C heck rear idler adjusting bolt locknuts for tightness.
n Check front torque arm limiter strap condition.
n Check slide rail condition. See page 105.
n C heck track tension. See page 100.
n Lubricate all rear suspension components. S ee page 77.
n Check ski runner/skag condition.
n C heck ski spindle bolts for tightness.
n C heck tie rod end nuts for tightness.
