MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Lights
When servicing a halogen lamp, don’t touch the lamp with bare
fingers. Oil from your skin leaves a residue, causing a hot spot that
will shorten the life of the lamp.
WARNING
Poor lighting while driving can result in severe injury or death.
Headlight and taillight lenses become dirty during normal
operation. Wash the headlights frequently to maintain lighting
quality.
Hot components can cause serious burns to skin. Do not service
the headlamps until they’ve cooled sufficiently.
Headlight Lamp Replacement (ATP 500)
1. Remove the three screws on the headlight pod.
2. Using a small flat-blade screwdriver, push i n on t he lock tabs
through the two small openings at the front of the headlight pod.
3. Lift the pod slightly while depressing the tabs.
4. Lift the pod cover and disconnect the speedometer harnesses from
the speedometer. Unplug the indicator light harness and remove
the pod cover.
5. Unplug the headlamp from the wiring harness. Be sure to pull on
the connector, not on the wiring.
6. Grasp t he bulb housing and turn counterclockwise to remove lamp.
7. Apply dielectric grease t o the light bulb socket before i nstalling t he
new bulb.
8. Reverse the previous steps to replace the lamp and reassemble the
pod.
