What causes the engine to backfire on my Polaris Ranger 4x4 500 EFI 2007 Utility Vehicle?

If your Polaris Utility Vehicle engine backfires, it could be due to a weak spark from the spark plug, so inspect, clean and/or replace the spark plugs. It may be caused by incorrect spark plug gap or heat range, so set the gap to specs or replace the plugs. Old or non-recommended fuel can cause this, so replace with fresh recommended fuel. If there is water present in fuel, replace it with fresh recommended fuel. Also, check all ignition connections and tighten if loose. For incorrectly installed spark plug wires, incorrect ignition timing, or mechanical failure, consult your Polaris dealer.
