Engine Oil
Oil Recommendations
POLARIS recommends the use of POLARIS PS-4 Full Synthetic 5W-
50 4-cycle oil or a similar oil for this engine. See the table on page 82
for fluid recommendations, capacities and plug torques.
Oil may need to be changed more frequently if POLARIS oil is not
used. Always use 5W-50 oil. Follow the manufacturer's
recommendations for ambient temperature operation. See page 129 for
the part numbers of POLARIS products.
NOTICE: Mixing brands or using a non-recommended oil may cause serious
engine damage. Always use the recommended oil. Never substitute
or mix oil brands.
Oil Level
Check the oil level when the
engine is cold. Never check the
oil with the engine running.
1. Position the vehicle on a
level surface.
2. Access the oil dipstick and
fill tube from the left side of
the ATV. Remove the
dipstick. Wipe it dry with a
clean cloth.
3. Reinstall and tighten the
dipstick.
4. Remove the dipstick and
check the oil level.
5. Add the recommended fluid
as needed. Maintain the oil
level in the safe range
between the FULL and ADD
marks. Do not overfill.
6. Reinstall and tighten the dipstick.
