Battery
WARNING
Improperly connecting or disconnecting battery cables can cause
sparks which could result in an explosion, causing serious injury or
death. When removing the battery, always disconnect the negative
(black) cable first. When reinstalling the battery, always connect the
negative (black) cable last.
Battery Removal
1. Place the t ransmission in gear.
2. Lock the mechanical parking
brake.
3. Disconnect the battery hold-down strap. Rem ove the battery cover.
4. Disconnect the black negative (--) cable first.
5. Disconnect the red positive (+) cable last.
6. Lift and remove the battery.
Battery Installation
Always install a fully charged battery. See page 97.
1. Place the battery in the battery holder.
2. Verify that cables are routed properl y.
3. Connect the red positive (+) cable first.
4. Connect the black negative (--) cable last.
5. Instal l the battery cover.
6. Attach the hold-down strap.
