Defects Warranty Coverage:
(a) The warran y period begins on he da e he engine is purchased
(b) General Evapora ive Emissions Warran y Coverage The engine mus be warran ed o he ul ima e purchaser and
any subsequen owner ha he evapora ive emission con rol sys em when ins alled was
(1) Designed buil and equipped so as o conform wi h all applicable regula ions and
(2) Free from defec s in ma erials and workmanship ha causes he failure of a warran ed par for a period of wo years
(c) The warran y on evapora ive emissions rela ed par s will be in erpre ed as follows
(1) Any warran ed par ha is no scheduled for replacemen as required main enance in he wri en ins ruc ions mus
be warran ed for he warran y period defined in subsec ion (b) (2)
f any such par fails during he period of warran y coverage i mus be repaired or replaced by METL

he warran y Any such par repaired or replaced under he warran y mus be warran ed for a ime no less han he
remaining warran y period
(2) Any warran ed par ha is scheduled only for regular inspec ion in he wri en ins ruc ions mus be warran ed
for he warran y period defined in subsec ion (b) (2) A s a emen in such wri en ins ruc ions o he effec of “repair
or replace as necessary” will no reduce he period of warran y coverage Any such par repaired or replaced under
warran y mus be warran ed for a ime no less han he remaining warran y period
(3) Any warran ed par ha is scheduled for replacemen as required main enance in he wri en ins ruc ions mus be
warran ed for he period of ime prior o he firs scheduled replacemen poin for ha par f he par fails prior o he
firs scheduled replacemen he par mus be repaired or replaced by METL Any such par repaired or replaced under
warran y mus be warran ed for a ime no less han he remainder of he period prior o he firs scheduled
replacemen poin for he par
(4) Repair or replacemen of any warran ed par under he warran y provisions of his ar icle mus be performed a no
charge o he owner a a warran y s a ion
(5) No wi hs anding he provisions of subsec ion (4) above warran y services or repairs mus be provided a
dis ribu ion cen ers ha are franchised o service he subjec engines or equipmen
(6) The owner mus no be charged for diagnos ic labor ha leads o he de ermina ion ha a warran ed par is in fac
defec ive provided ha such diagnos ic work is performed a a warran y s a ion
(7) Throughou he evapora ive emission con rol sys em s warran y period se ou in subsec ion (b) (2) METL
issuing
he warran y mus main ain a supply of warran ed par s sufficien o mee he expec ed demand for such par s
(8) Manufac urer approved replacemen par s mus be used in he performance of any warran y main enance or
repairs and mus be provided wi hou charge o he owner Such use will no reduce he warran y obliga ions of he
manufac urer issuing he warran y
(9) The use of any add on or modified par s will be grounds for disallowing a warran y claim made in accordance wi h
his ar icle The manufac urer issuing he warran y will no be liable under his Ar icle o warran failures of warran ed
par s caused by he use of an add on or modified par
(10) METL
issuing he warran y shall provide any documen s ha describe he warran y procedures or policies wi hin
five working days of reques by he Execu ive Officer
