Overview

The Powermatic PM1250 Electrostatic Air Filtration System is a robust and efficient device designed to improve air quality in various environments by filtering airborne dust and particles. This unit is specifically engineered for the filtration of airborne dust, making it suitable for workshops and similar settings where dust generation is common. It is not intended for filtering volatile fumes, smoke, or flammable vapors, and its use in high humidity environments is discouraged to prevent electric shock and decreased performance.

The PM1250 features a user-friendly interface with both on-unit controls and a remote control for convenient operation. The control panel includes LED indicators for power, speed, and timer settings, providing clear visual feedback on the unit's status. The remote control utilizes radio frequency, allowing for operation without the need for a direct line of sight, which adds to its versatility in a workshop setting.

For operation, the unit first needs to be plugged in, at which point a red on/off indicator light will glow, signifying standby mode. Pressing the power button starts the unit, and a green speed indicator light will illuminate, indicating that the default speed is selected. Users can then adjust the speed by pressing the speed button until the desired speed indicator (Low, Medium, or High) glows green. The unit also includes a timer function, allowing users to set operating times of 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. Once the timer is set, the corresponding indicator will flash multiple times before staying green, and the unit will automatically shut off after the set time expires. If the timer function is not used, the unit will continue to operate until the power button is pressed again.

The PM1250 is designed for flexible installation. It can be used as a portable unit by attaching four rubber pads to its base, or it can be fixed to a table, wall, or ceiling using appropriate fasteners. When ceiling-mounted, it is recommended to position the front (filter side) downward for best results, while for table-mounted use, the front should be positioned vertically. The unit also features a tilt adjustment mechanism, allowing users to loosen side knobs and position the frame to any desired angle before retightening. It is crucial to ensure that any wall or ceiling structure used for mounting is capable of supporting the unit's weight and absorbing vibrations to prevent serious injury.

Maintenance of the PM1250 primarily involves filter cleaning and replacement, as well as anion generator maintenance. The disposable filter has an approximate life of 3000 operating hours, though this can vary based on speed setting and the working environment. The unit is programmed to alert the user after 1000 hours of operation with a flashing red indicator light, signaling that the filter should be cleaned. Filter life can be extended by occasionally cleaning off dust with a shop vacuum or compressed air. However, a dirty filter will diminish the unit's efficiency and should be replaced after 3000 hours.

To remove the filter, the unit must first be turned off. The cover is then rotated counterclockwise and removed, along with the prefilter. The internal metal ring carries an electrical charge during operation, so it is essential to turn off the unit before attempting to remove the cover. After removing the cover, the filter is rotated counterclockwise to detach it from the stator. Dust can then be cleaned from the filter using a vacuum or soft bristle brush, and recessed areas can be cleaned with a household air blower. Any residual dust inside the unit should also be cleaned.

For installation of a cleaned or replacement filter, the filter is centered onto the stator and turned clockwise until it fully engages, indicated by a hard stop. The cover is then installed and rotated clockwise until it fully engages, guided by lock/unlock graphics molded into its edges. A sensor prevents the unit from starting if the cover is not installed properly. After installing the filter and cover, the unit is plugged in, and the red Reset indicator light will flash. Pressing and holding the power button for 5 seconds will turn off the red indicator light and reset the filter life count.

The anion generator also requires regular maintenance. Dust should be removed from the carbon brush of the anion generator using the provided cleaning brush. Any additional servicing beyond these routine tasks should be performed by authorized service personnel to ensure the unit's proper functioning and safety. The PM1250 Electrostatic Air Filtration System is CARB certified, ensuring compliance with federal ozone emissions limits, reflecting its commitment to both performance and environmental responsibility.
