Overview

The Premier Pet™ Rechargeable Bark Collar (GBC00-16296) is designed to effectively deter barking in pets. This product manual provides essential information on its function, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The bark collar utilizes static correction to discourage excessive barking. It features 15 levels of static correction, starting with low-level corrections. If a dog continues to bark excessively, the correction intensity automatically increases with each successive bark until the barking stops. Once the dog learns to reduce its barking, the initial warning corrections are reduced. As a built-in safety feature, if the dog barks 15 times or more within a 1 minute 20 second period, the bark collar will automatically shut off for 3 minutes, ensuring the pet's safety and preventing over-correction.

Important Technical Specifications:

The device contains Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries. It is crucial to handle these batteries with care: never incinerate, puncture, deform, short-circuit, or charge them with an inappropriate charger, as this could lead to fire, explosion, property damage, or bodily harm. The collar is designed to be waterproof when the rubber cover for the charging port is properly in place.

Usage Features:

  • Proper Fit: Correct fit and placement are critical for effective operation. The collar should be placed around the dog's neck with the Premier Pet™ logo facing up and the collar positioned directly under the dog's chin. The contact points must be centered underneath the dog's neck, touching the skin. It may be necessary to trim hair around the contact points for consistent contact, but never shave the dog's neck, as this can lead to rash or infection. The fit should be snug, allowing one finger to be inserted between a contact point and the dog's neck, but not constricting. The fit should be rechecked after a few minutes and again as the dog becomes more comfortable.
  • Charging: The bark collar should only be charged when the batteries are low to prevent shortening battery life. During charging, the LED on the collar will be solid red and will turn off once fully charged. After charging, the rubber cover (mud plug) must be replaced over the charging port to maintain the collar's waterproof integrity.
  • Turning On/Off: To turn the collar on, press and hold the On/Off button. The LED will flash once quickly, then once every 5 seconds (or every 3 seconds when the battery is low). To turn the collar off, press and hold the On/Off button and then release. Turning the collar off when not in use helps conserve battery life.
  • Test Mode: To test the collar's functionality, first, ensure it is charging. Press and hold the On/Off button while unplugging the charger. The collar will flash 5 times to indicate the start of the test. Place the test light tool against the contact points. Release the On/Off button before the 5 flashes end. The collar will then enter test mode, cycling through all 15 stimulation levels. It will flash once for each level of stimulation before providing the stimulation. After level 15, it will turn off. The test can be stopped at any time by pressing the On/Off button.
  • Safety Precautions: This product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children. It is intended for use only as a bark deterrent for healthy pets. Do not use this product on aggressive dogs. If unsure about suitability, consult a veterinarian or certified trainer. Avoid leaving the collar on a pet for more than 12 hours per day, and reposition it every 1 to 2 hours to prevent pressure ulcers (bed sores). Never connect a leash to a collar with contact points, as this will cause excessive pressure. If using a separate collar for a leash, ensure it does not put pressure on the bark collar.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks: Weekly, check the contact points for tightness.
  • Cleaning: Clean the contact points and the dog's neck area weekly with a damp cloth.
  • Inspection: Daily, examine the contact area on the dog's neck for signs of rash or sores. If a rash or sore is found, discontinue use until the skin has healed. If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, consult a veterinarian.
  • Warranty: The product includes a one-year non-transferable limited manufacturer's warranty. Further details are available on premierpet.com.
  • Customer Care: For questions or training tips, contact the USA-based Customer Care Center at +1 (866) 381-2785. Representatives are available Mon-Fri 8am-8pm EST and Sat 9am-5pm EST. It is recommended to contact customer care before returning the product.

Compliance:

The device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules, ensuring it does not cause harmful interference and accepts any interference received. Modifications or changes to the equipment not expressly approved by Radio Systems Corporation may void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
