What to do if my Pro-Lift Jacks leaks fluid while lowering?
    • L
      Laura LopezJul 30, 2025
If fluid leaks from the reservoir area while lowering your Pro-Lift jack, or if the jack saddle won't descend to the lowest advertised height, it could be due to an overfilled reservoir. Drain the fluid to the proper level. If the ram plunger/cylinder is deformed or seized, likely from off-center loading, contact Customer Support.

Why Pro-Lift Jacks saddle will not remain lowered after released?
    • B
      Beth BassAug 4, 2025
If the jack saddle of your Pro-Lift jack creeps up after being released from contact with the load, it might be due to air trapped in the system. If the jack saddle is not in contact with a lifted load, remove the jack and follow the instructions on page 4 for bleeding air from the system. If there is loaded contact between the saddle and a raised vehicle, STOP, use another jack to raise the vehicle high enough to reinstall jack stands. Remove the affected jack and jack stands. Then, using a functioning jack, lower the load and follow the instructions on page 4 for bleeding air from the system.

      Ryan ZhangAug 10, 2025
If your Pro-Lift jack lowers slowly and unintentionally after lifting, discontinue use and contact Customer Support due to a potential hydraulic unit malfunction.

Why is my Pro-Lift Jacks having poor lift performance?
    • J
      James SmithAug 15, 2025
If your Pro-Lift jack isn't lifting properly, make sure the fluid level is correct. Also, there might be air trapped in the system. With the saddle fully lowered, follow the instructions on page 4 for bleeding air. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the hydraulic unit may be malfunctioning, and you should contact Customer Support.

How to fix a Pro-Lift Jacks that will not lift load?
    • R
      Ryan WhiteAug 22, 2025
If your Pro-Lift jack won't lift the load, ensure the release valve is tightly closed by turning it clockwise until you feel firm resistance using the provided handle. If the load is still too heavy, you will need to use a jack with a higher capacity.

Overview

This document is the Operating Instructions & Parts Manual for the PRO-LIFT Hydraulic Low Profile Floor Jack, Model Number SG-5625.

Function Description:

The PRO-LIFT SG-5625 is a hydraulic low profile floor jack designed for lifting vehicles. It utilizes a hydraulic system to raise a saddle, which then contacts a lift point on the vehicle. Once lifted, the load must be immediately transferred to appropriately rated jack stands for support. The jack is intended for lifting purposes only and should not be used to move or dolly a vehicle. It is crucial to lift only on areas of the vehicle specified by the vehicle manufacturer. The jack features an overload valve bypass system to prevent damage to the jack and injury to the user by limiting the maximum lifting capacity.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model Number: SG-5625
  • Capacity: 2-1/2 Ton (equivalent to 5,000 lbs.)
  • Lifting Range: 3-3/8 inches (minimum) to 14-7/8 inches (maximum)
  • Hydraulic Fluid Type: Good quality hydraulic jack oil (Mobil DTE13M or equivalent recommended). NEVER use brake fluid, turbine oil, transmission fluid, motor oil, or glycerin, as these can cause jack failure and sudden loss of load.
  • Manufacturer: SFA Companies, Inc., located at 10939 N. Pomona Ave., Kansas City, MO 64153.
  • Warranty: One Year Limited Warranty covering defects in material or workmanship under normal usage.

Usage Features:

  • Low Profile Design: Allows the jack to fit under vehicles with lower ground clearance.
  • Handle Operation: The jack is operated using a provided handle. The stamped end of the handle engages and turns the release valve.
    • CLOSED Position: Turning the handle clockwise until firm resistance is felt engages the 'CLOSED' position, used to raise the load.
    • OPEN Position: Turning the handle counter-clockwise, but no more than 1/2 full turn from the closed position, engages the 'OPEN' position, used to lower the load.
  • Bleeding/Venting Trapped Air: A procedure is outlined to release pressurized air from the reservoir, which involves removing the oil filler plug, inserting the handle, and pumping 6 to 8 full strokes with the release valve in the OPEN position and the saddle fully lowered.
  • Safety Alert Symbol: The manual prominently features the safety alert symbol (!), emphasizing the importance of following all safety messages to prevent personal injury and/or property damage.
  • California Proposition 65 Warning: The product contains lead paint, requiring users to avoid ingesting paint chips, keep the product away from children, and wash hands after use.
  • Pre-Use Inspection: Users are instructed to inspect the jack before each use for broken, bent, cracked, or damaged parts (including labels). Any damaged or abnormally operating jack, or one with missing parts, must be removed from service immediately.
  • Shock Load Protocol: If the jack is suspected of being subjected to a shock load, discontinue use immediately and have it checked by a factory-authorized service center.
  • Annual Inspection: An annual inspection by qualified personnel is recommended.
  • Compatibility: The jack should only be used on vehicles whose lift points are compatible with the jack's saddle to prevent structural damage.
  • Operating Surface: Must be used only on a hard, level surface.
  • Load Transfer: After lifting, the load must be immediately supported by appropriate means (jack stands). Never work on, under, or around a load supported only by a hydraulic jack.
  • Lowering Procedure: Involves raising the load slightly to clear jack stands, then slowly turning the handle counter-clockwise (no more than 1/2 turn) to lower the vehicle. Instructions are provided for troubleshooting if the load fails to lower.
  • Ram Protection: After removing the jack from under the vehicle, the saddle should be pushed down to reduce ram exposure to rust and contamination.

Maintenance Features:

  • Oil Level Check and Adding Oil: With the saddle fully lowered, the oil filler plug is removed. Proper oil level should be from just covering the inner cylinder to approximately 3/16" above it. If the oil level is too low, the jack will not reach its maximum advertised height. Overfilling the reservoir is warned against, as it can cause performance problems and spills.
  • Changing Oil: For best performance and longest life, the hydraulic fluid should be completely replaced at least once per year. This involves draining the old fluid into a suitable container (disposing of it according to local environmental regulations) and refilling with new hydraulic jack oil.
  • Lubrication: Periodic application of light lubricating oil to pivot points, axles, and hinges is recommended to prevent rust and ensure free movement of wheels, casters, and pump assemblies.
  • Cleaning: Periodically check the pump piston and ram for signs of rust or corrosion. Clean as needed and wipe with an oily cloth. Never use sandpaper or abrasive material on the ram or pump piston.
  • Storage: Store the jack with the pump piston, ram plunger, and saddle fully lowered, and the release valve open (but no more than 1/2 turn) to prevent rust and corrosion to critical surfaces.
  • Replacement Parts: A detailed replacement parts list and illustration (Figure 2) are provided, including part numbers and descriptions for components such as the saddle, lift arm, side plate assembly, front wheel, rear caster assembly, handle, handle socket, and power unit assembly. Instructions for ordering parts are included, emphasizing the need to provide the model number, serial number, and item/description.
