INTENDED USE
The Protekt
®
Aire Geri Chair Overlay is intended to reduce the incidence of pressure
ulcers while optimizing patient comfort. It also provides the following:
Individual home care setting and long-term care
Pain management as prescribed by a physician

Power Switch (1)
 The switch is located in the front of the pump.
 Turn ON/OFF the power, the pump will start/stop operation.
Weight adjust knob (2)
 Turn the weight knob to set a comfortable weight level.
Normal Pressure Indicator (3)
 A visible indicator (green) tells the pressure has reached a preset or
user-defined level.
Low Pressure Indicator (4)

A visible indicator (orange) warns the pressure is below a preset or
user-defined
level.
Static Control (5)
 Press to set the air mattress in static mode.

The Protekt® Aire Geri Chair Overlay is a medical device designed to reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers and optimize patient comfort, particularly in home care settings and long-term care facilities. It can also be used for pain management as prescribed by a physician.

Function Description

The system consists of a pump and a mattress overlay. The pump inflates the mattress, which is composed of individual air cells, to provide alternating pressure. This alternating pressure helps to redistribute the patient's weight, preventing prolonged pressure on any single area of the body, which is a key factor in the development of pressure ulcers.

Pump Functions:

• Power Switch (1): Located on the front of the pump, this switch turns the device ON/OFF, initiating or stopping operation.
• Weight Adjust Knob (2): This knob allows the user to set a comfortable weight level for the patient, ensuring optimal pressure distribution.
• Normal Pressure Indicator (3): A green light that illuminates when the mattress pressure has reached a preset or user-defined level, indicating proper inflation.
• Low Pressure Indicator (4): An orange light that warns the user if the mattress pressure falls below a preset or user-defined level, signaling a potential issue or the need for adjustment.
• Static Control (5): A button that, when pressed, sets the air mattress into a static mode, maintaining a constant pressure rather than alternating.
• Hanging Brackets (6): These brackets allow the pump to be conveniently hung, for example, on the back of a chair or bed.

Mattress Functions:

The mattress is a cell-type overlay made of Nylon TPU, designed to be placed on a geri chair. It features 36 individual air cells that inflate and deflate in an alternating pattern, providing dynamic pressure relief. The mattress is secured to the chair with straps.

Usage Features

Operating Instructions:

1. Placement: Place the pump on a horizontal surface or hang it using the integrated hook.
2. Mattress Setup: Open the mattress on the geri chair and secure it with the provided straps.
3. Connection: Connect the air feed tubes from the mattress to the air outlet on the pump. Ensure the tubes are not kinked or twisted to allow for proper airflow.
4. Power On: Turn on the pump power using the power switch. The power indicator will illuminate, and the pump will begin to inflate the mattress.
5. Inflation Monitoring: During inflation, the Low Pressure indicator (orange) will be on. Once the pressure reaches the preset level (typically within approximately 30 minutes), the Normal Pressure indicator (green) will illuminate, and the Low Pressure indicator will turn off.
6. Weight Adjustment: Turn the weight adjust knob to set a comfortable weight level for the patient.

Environmental Requirements:

• Operation Temperature: 50°F to 95°F (10°C to 35°C).
• Storage Temperature: 5°F to 122°F (-15°C to 50°C).
• Operation Humidity: 20% to 80% non-condensing.
• Storage Humidity: 10% to 90% non-condensing.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning Guidelines:

• The device can be cleaned using a disinfectant solution.
• Do not immerse the pump in water.
• Do not heat or steam the device in an autoclave.
• After cleaning, ensure the mattress and cover are aerated until they are fully dry before use.

The pump and mattress come with an 18-month warranty.
