Problem Possible Cause Suggested Correction
Trailer Sway Not enough weight
distribution
Follow “under adjustment”
guidelines to add spacer wash-
ers or raise L-bracket.
Tongue weight too light Weigh loaded trailer and tongue
weight. Tongue weight should
be a minimum of 400lbs., and
usually between 10%-15%
of Gross Trailer Weight. Fol-
low trailer mfg. guidelines for
tongue weight. Reposition load
in trailer as needed. Remove
cargo carriers or 2nd trailer
from rear of trailer.
Incorrect Tire Pressure Check and ll tires as needed to
mfg. recommendations.
Socket bolts loose Make sure socket bolts are
tightened to between 45-65 ft.
lbs. torque.
Tow capacity exceeded Make sure your tow vehicle
is rated to tow your trailer’s
tongue weight and Gross
Vehicle Weight. If it’s not, DO
NOT TOW.
Hitch Undersized Check to make sure your hitch
rating meets of exceeds both
your Gross Trailer Weight Rate-
ing and Max Tongue Weight.
If it does not, DO NOT TOW.
Purchase an Equal-i-zer hitch
with a higher rating.
Tow Vehicle Too
High in Front
