Overview

This document describes the 2 TON TROLLEY JACK & JACK STANDS, item number W1605, an owner's manual for a lifting device and its accompanying support stands.

Function Description:

The primary function of the 2 TON TROLLEY JACK is to lift loads up to 4,000 lbs. It operates hydraulically, allowing users to raise a load to a desired height by pumping the jack handle. Once the load is lifted, it must be immediately transferred to JACK STANDS for support, as the jack itself is a lifting device only and not intended for sustained load support. The jack stands are designed to safely support the lifted load, preventing it from falling while work is performed underneath. The system is designed for use on hard, level surfaces.

Important Technical Specifications:

TON TROLLEY JACK:

  • Capacity: 4,000 lbs.
  • Low Height: 5-1/8 in.
  • Max. Height: 13 in.
  • Lift Range: 7-7/8 in.
  • Hydraulic Fluid: SAE 10 hydraulic fluid for refills.

JACK STANDS:

  • Capacity: 4,000 lbs.
  • Low Height: 10-3/8 in.
  • Max. Height: 16-3/8 in.
  • Lift Range: 6 in.

Specifications are subject to change without notice.

Usage Features:

General Safety:

  • It is the owner's/operator's responsibility to study all warnings, operating, and maintenance instructions prior to operation.
  • The owner/operator must be of sound mind and body and not under the influence of any substance that might impair vision, dexterity, or judgment.
  • Failure to comply with instructions could result in personal injury and/or property damage.
  • Always use appropriate supports (jack stands) before working under a load.
  • Do not overload the jack or jack stands beyond their rated capacity.
  • Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for proper jacking procedures and lift only on specified areas.
  • Ensure all personnel are clear of the load before lowering it and do not pass underneath until the load is securely supported by jack stands.
  • The jack is designed for use only on hard, level surfaces; use on other surfaces can result in instability and loss of load.
  • Jack stands must be used in pairs on hard, level surfaces capable of sustaining the load.

Trolley Jack Operation:

  • Before Use: Turn the release valve counter-clockwise to open. Pump the jack handle approximately 6 full strokes to ensure complete distribution of hydraulic fluid.
  • To Raise: Turn the release valve clockwise to close. Center the load on the saddle. Pump the jack handle to raise the load to the desired height, ensuring not to exceed the rated load. Immediately transfer the load to jack stands, using them in pairs only.
  • To Lower: Slightly raise the load to remove the jack stands. Slowly turn the release valve counter-clockwise just enough to allow controlled descent (never turn counter-clockwise more than 3 full turns).

Jack Stand Operation:

  • Position stands under the vehicle at points specified by the vehicle manufacturer as proper load support points.
  • To Adjust: Hold the control lever up while lifting the saddle shaft to the desired height. Push the control lever down to lock the pawl into the teeth of the center column. Ensure the pawl is fully engaged.
  • Carefully lower the load onto the stands.

Maintenance Features:

Trolley Jack Maintenance:

  • When not in use, the lifting arm and handle sleeve should be in the fully down position to prevent corrosion of precision machined surfaces.
  • Keep the jack clean and well lubricated.
  • For best results, use only SAE 10 hydraulic fluid for refills. Check the fluid level with the jack in the fully down position; the fluid level should be 5mm below the filler hole.
  • Regularly check for loose, worn, or damaged parts and repair or replace them as necessary. Use Performance Tool replacement parts, and ensure only qualified personnel perform repairs.

Troubleshooting (Trolley Jack):

The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues:

  • Will not lift load: Possible causes include low fluid, airbound power unit, or valves not closing completely. Solutions involve checking/adding fluid, purging air by pumping the handle 20 times with the release valve open, and seating valves by closing the release valve, manually raising the lifting arm, then opening the release valve to descend.
  • Will not hold load: Possible causes include airbound power unit or valves not closing completely.
  • Will not lift to full height: Possible causes include low fluid or airbound power unit.
  • Pump feels "spongy" under load: Possible causes include low fluid or airbound power unit.
  • Handle raises under load: Possible causes include airbound power unit or valves not closing completely.

Jack Stand Maintenance & Inspection:

  • Before each use, perform a visual inspection for cracks, cracked welds, and missing/damaged parts. Any stand appearing damaged must be removed from service immediately.
  • No modifications should be made to the product due to potential hazards.

Replacement Parts:

The manual lists specific replacement parts available:

  • W1605CK: Ram Repair Kit
  • W1605-39: Return Spring
  • W1605-44: Caster Assembly
  • W1605-70: Pump Handle

This comprehensive manual ensures safe and effective operation and maintenance of the 2 TON TROLLEY JACK & JACK STANDS.
