Trim Tab Maintenance
Marine growth can interfere with the proper operation of the trim tab planes and actuators. To
reduce problems due to marine growth, always return the trim tabs to the full “UP” position after
operating the boat and periodically inspect and clean marine growth from the actuators and planes.
The trim tab fluid should be checked often. Keep the fluid level between the marks on the trim tab
pump reservoir.
The trim tabs are equipped with a zinc anode and bonded to the transom zinc anodes to prevent
galvanic corrosion. Galvanic corrosion is the corrosion process occurring when different metals
are submerged in an electrolyte. Sea water is an electrolyte and submerged metal components must
be properly protected. The zinc anodes must be monitored and replaced as necessary. Refer to the
trim tab owner’s manual for additional maintenance information, fluid specifications and operating
instructions.
