Why is the hydraulic steering on my PURSUIT Boat slow to respond and erratic?
    • D
      davidanthonyAug 17, 2025
The steering system might be low on fluid or have air in it; in this case, you should fill and bleed the system. Alternatively, a component in the steering system or the engine steering cylinder could be binding. Inspect, adjust, or repair any binding components, and grease the spindle.

What to do if my PURSUIT Boat wanders and will not hold a course at cruise speeds?
    • B
      brianskinnerAug 20, 2025
This issue may arise due to air in the steering system, so start by filling and bleeding the system. Another cause could be a corroded or misadjusted engine steering tab, which would need replacement or adjustment. Finally, a binding engine steering cylinder can also cause wandering; try greasing the spindle.

What to do if my PURSUIT C280 is sluggish and has lost speed and RPM?
    • D
      doughertyjoshuaAug 22, 2025
Several factors can cause a boat to be sluggish. Start by checking for weeds or line around the propeller and cleaning it. Ensure the boat isn't overloaded by reducing the load. Also, check for excessive water in the bilge, pump it out, and correct the problem. Finally, the throttle adjustments may have changed, preventing the engine from getting full throttle; adjust the throttle cable.

Why won't the engine start with the shift control lever in neutral on my PURSUIT C280 Boat?
    • J
      John JohnsonAug 26, 2025
This can happen if the shift control lever is not in the neutral detent; try moving the shift lever slightly. Also, inspect wires on the neutral safety switch on the transmission and repair any loose connections.

Why is my PURSUIT C280 Boat vibrating at cruising speeds?
    • Q
      qwilliamsAug 28, 2025
Vibration at cruising speeds can be caused by several factors. The propeller or propeller shaft might be bent, requiring repair or replacement. The running gear could be fouled by marine growth or rope, so clean the running gear. Also, the engine might not be trimmed properly, so try trimming the engine.

What to do if the engine is loosing RPM on my PURSUIT C280?
    • R
      ryanbarreraSep 8, 2025
The engine may be having a problem with a sticky anti-siphon valve, located in the fuel line near the fuel tank, that is restricting the fuel flow. Remove and clean or replace the anti-siphon valve. The remote gasoline fuel filter could be dirty; inspect and replace the fuel filter. The primary fuel filter on the engine may be dirty; inspect and replace the fuel filter.

What to do if the livewell pump runs, but does not pump water in my PURSUIT C280 Boat?
    • C
      Christopher JacksonSep 12, 2025
The strainer on the intake scoop might be clogged, preventing water from reaching the pump; put the boat in reverse to clean the strainer. There could be an air lock in the system; run the boat above 15 m.p.h. to force the air lock past the pump and prime the system. Ensure that the thru-hull valve and the valve in the livewell are open.
