Do you have a question about the Pyle PMUX9 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Pyle PMUX9 is a professional USB audio interface designed for computer playing and recording, offering high-quality audio processing in a compact and rugged metal housing. This device is an ultralow noise design with high headroom, ensuring clear and pristine audio capture and playback. It provides 24-Bit/48kHz resolution, making it suitable for detailed recording quality.

Function Description:

The PMUX9 serves as a versatile audio interface, connecting microphones, musical instruments, and other audio sources to a computer for recording and monitoring. It features two Class A mic pre-amps and a TTL guitar pre-amp, catering to a wide range of input needs. The device includes preset 24 digital effects, allowing users to enhance their audio with various reverbs, delays, choruses, and other creative effects.

Input/Output Connectivity:

  • MIC/LINE Input Jacks (1L, 2R): Two combo jacks (XLR + 6.35mm jack) for connecting microphones or musical instruments. These inputs support both XLR and unbalanced 1/4" plugs. A [MIC/LINE] Converting Switch allows selection between stereo input (1L and 2R form a stereo signal) or mono input (two individual mono input signals).
  • GUITAR Input Jack: A 1/4" jack for connecting instruments like electric guitars or basses.
  • AUX IN (3.5mm) Auxiliary Input Jack: Provides flexible connectivity for various external devices. Its volume is controlled by external devices or the MONITOR knob. The input signal from AUX IN can be recorded to a PC only when the [PC REC] switch is in the up position during MIC+PC recording.
  • RCA IN Stereo Input Jack: For connecting devices such as a TAPE or CD player.
  • PHONES Output Jacks: Two headphone jack options (6.35mm and 3.5mm) for stereo headphones, allowing for direct monitoring.
  • STEREO OUT (3.5mm) Auxiliary Output Jack: For connecting to external stereo devices.
  • MONITOR OUT Output Jack: For connecting to an active speaker or amplifier.
  • USB 2.0 Terminal (Type-B): Serves for data transfer, recording, and power supply. When connected to a computer, it powers the mixer and facilitates stereo playback and recording with a 24-Bit/48kHz sampling rate.

Controls and Indicators:

  • GUITAR Controller: Adjusts the input level of the guitar channel.
  • RCA/AUX Controller: Controls the input level of RCA and AUX inputs.
  • SIG Signal Indicator: Brightness changes with signal input intensity, providing visual feedback on signal presence.
  • INPUT 1-2 L-R Controller: Controls the input level of MIC/LINE channels.
  • PEAK LED: Lights up when the input signal is too high, indicating potential clipping.
  • PAD Button: Attenuates the sound input to prevent distortion, especially when the PEAK LED lights up consistently.
  • HIGH, MID, LOW Tone Controllers: Three-band EQ for adjusting treble (15dB at 12kHz), mid (15dB at 2.5kHz), and bass (15dB at 80Hz) frequencies.
  • Effector Display: Shows the selected effect number.
  • DSP Selecting Buttons (UP/DOWN): Used to select one of the 24 DSP effects.
  • PARAMETER Controller: Adjusts effect depth, speed, or other characteristics of the selected effect.
  • FX Controller: Controls the overall effect level.
  • +48V PHANTOM POWER Button/LED: Activates +48V DC phantom power for XLR plug MIC mono inputs, essential for condenser microphones.
  • PC REC Switch: This switch, used in conjunction with the [MIC/LINE] input switch, controls PC recording behavior.
    • Up position (MIC+PC recording): Audio from the PC is recorded back to the PC, along with MIC, GUITAR, and STEREO inputs. Recording volumes for MIC and GUITAR are controlled by their channel knobs, while STEREO IN volume is controlled externally. In mono mode, MIC/LINE inputs assign L and R recording tracks simultaneously; in stereo mode, L and R inputs are assigned separately.
    • Down position: Audio on the PC still plays but does not flow back to PC recording. Only MIC and GUITAR inputs are recorded, with recording volume controlled by channel knobs. MIC/LINE inputs assign L and R recording tracks separately regardless of switch position.
  • MONITOR Controller: Adjusts the volume of the MONITOR output.
  • CLIP L & R LED: Lights up when the MONITOR output signal is too high.
  • POWER ON LED: Indicates when the mixer's power is on.
  • PHONES Controller: Controls the headphone volume.
  • PC USB Controller: Controls the input level from the PC USB port, allowing for volume balancing.
