Note- A wireless detector can only be programmed into a single location. If when attempting to program
a detector the QE920 beeps and another zone led lights
This indicates that the detector that is being learned already exists in the zone being indicated by the led.
Programming of the codex remotes
5 Button Codex transmitter button allocations:
Codex transmitter 505 E panel (question 110-119)
Button 1 Button 1
Button 2 Button 2
Button 3 Not used
Button 4 Button 4
Button 5 Button 3
Adding a remote
The codex remotes can be learned/deleted either on the QE920 wireless expander or by the user from
the keypad, only if selected as zones 9-16 (see user manual adding / deleting remotes)
Adding remotes from the QE920 wireless expander
1) Press the function button until the TX led lights
2) Insert learn link (TX and RSSI LEARN leds flash)
3) Press the function button until led 1 lights (If the led lights continuously press and hold the function
button until the led flashes)
4) Press a button on the codex transmitter (Led 1 burns continuously and the codex remote is assigned
to user 1).
5) Press the function button once, led 2 lights
6) Repeat step 4 until all the codex remotes have been learned
7) Remove the learn link
Delete a remote on the QE920
1) Press the function button until the TX led lights
2) Insert learn link (TX and RSSI LEARN leds flash)
3) Press the function button until led lights for the remote number to be deleted
4) Press and hold the function button until the led starts flashing
5) Repeat step 3 until all remotes to be deleted are removed
6) Remove learn link
Power down the HSC 505E for 60 seconds and re-power for correct operation.
After a power up the QE920 wireless expander will be in a test mode for 15 minutes
Testing of the QE920 functions
Power down the HSC505E and re-power to enter Walk test mode on QE920
Testing zones
After power-up on the QE920 the RX led will light
1) Trigger a wireless detector (The corresponding zone on the QE920 will light and the buzzer will
beep, The 505E will indicated the zone as NOT READY)
2) Reset the wireless detector (The QE920 will beep and the corresponding zone led will extinguish,
the 505E will indicate SYSTEM READY)
3) Repeat step 1 for the rest of the wireless detectors
Checking Detector signal strength
1) Press the function button until the RSSI led lights
2) Trigger a wireless detector
3) The signal strength will be indicated by leds 1 to 5. The more leds lit the stronger the signal strength
