6.12 COOLANT
Thie cooling system is fitted with an electric fan (which starts automati-
cally above a given temperature) in order to guarantee the most efficient
performance in all riding conditions.
To ensure the proper operation of the engine, the coolant temperature
must not exceed 110°C (right-side indicator). If this value is reached, the
indicator starts blinking. Stop the engine immediately, let it cool down
and check the coolant level. If it is irregular, please contact a service
centre.
Always ensure that the coolant level within the expan-
sion tank does not exceed the maximum mark.
Let the engine cool down before carrying out any main-
tenance operation.
LEVEL CHECKS (Fig. 02)
You must always check the coolant level with the engine cold and in
accordance with the scheduled maintenance chart.
In order to ensure the optimal operation of the engine,
always check that the radiator grill is clean.
To check the coolant level, proceed as follows:
• Rest the vehicle on its centre stand and on level ground.
• Through the inspection hole «1» located underneath the footrest
check that the coolant level reaches the Top mark.
