Overview

The Rage RC Stinger GPS is an FPV (First Person View) drone designed for recreational use, offering a blend of advanced features and user-friendly operation. It comes as an RTF (Ready-To-Fly) package, meaning it's factory-assembled with everything needed to start flying, including a 2.4GHz 4-channel transmitter, a smartphone holder, a USB charging cable for the flight battery, and an extra set of propeller blades. The drone is equipped with GPS functionality, enabling features like Position Hold, Waypoints, and Return Home within a 200m range of the transmitter signal.

Function Description:

The Stinger GPS is built for an enhanced flying experience with several integrated features:

  • GPS Functions: Position Hold, Waypoints, and Return Home (within 200m range of transmitter signal). These features rely on acquiring sufficient GPS signals, which can take 1-3 minutes outdoors. If GPS signals are not acquired, the drone can still be flown by long-pressing the GPS On/Off button on the transmitter to fly without GPS.
  • Altitude Hold: Maintains a stable altitude, making it easier for pilots to focus on directional control.
  • 6-Axis Gyro Stabilization Control: Provides stable and smooth flight characteristics.
  • One Touch Take-Off and Land: Simplifies the take-off and landing process with a single button press. Holding this button during flight will initiate an Emergency Stop and turn off the motors.
  • Brushless Motors: Offer efficient and powerful performance.
  • 1080p HD Camera: Records high-definition images and videos. The camera has 1-axis movement (up and down) controllable from the transmitter. A second, downward-facing fixed camera provides an alternative viewing perspective. Photos and videos are saved to your smart device when connected to the app.
  • FPV Capability: Allows real-time video transmission to a smart device for an immersive flying experience.
  • Rates (Flight Speed): The drone offers three flight speeds (low, medium, high), selectable via a rate dial on the transmitter. The default setting is low rate.
  • Safe Return: If the aircraft detects a low voltage level, its front and rear lights will blink slowly, and it will automatically return to a height of about 20 meters within the radius of the take-off point. It can fly for 2-4 minutes in this state. Upon a second low voltage detection at less than 10 meters height, it will automatically rise to 10-20 meters, return to the take-off point, and land. This function only works in GPS mode.
  • One Key Return: When activated, the drone will return to its take-off position and land. The transmitter will beep continuously until the drone has landed. This function also requires GPS mode to be active.
  • Fine Tuning Adjustment (Trims): Allows for minor adjustments to the drone's flight directions to achieve a steady hover and prevent drifting. This mode is entered and exited by a short press of the trim button.
  • Smart Phone Installation: The transmitter includes a bracket to securely hold a smartphone, facilitating FPV viewing and app control.
  • App Control: The drone can be controlled and monitored via a dedicated app, available for iOS and Android devices. The app provides additional features such as Gyro Calibration, View Switching between cameras, 180 Rotation for panoramic views, VR Mode (for use with VR goggles, not included), Waypoints and Multi-waypoints (requires a Maps app), Circling (drone flies a circle around the pilot), Following (drone follows the pilot), Background Music, Filter, Image Rotation, and Gimbal control. Headless Mode is not enabled for this product. Gesture control is also available for taking photos (peace sign) and videos (open palm or OK hand gesture) from 5-10 feet away.

Usage Features:

  • Ready-To-Fly (RTF): Comes pre-assembled with all necessary components.
  • Hard-Sided Travel Case: Includes soft foam packing for convenient and safe transportation of all components.
  • Long Flight Time: The cartridge-style battery provides up to 25 minutes of flight time.
  • Easy Charging: Both the flight battery and the transmitter are charged via USB cables. The flight battery takes approximately 3 hours to charge, and the transmitter also takes about 3 hours.
  • Binding Process: After installing the flight battery and powering on the drone, power on the transmitter. The drone will beep, and its front and rear lights will flash. The front lights will then become solid, and the rear lights will continue to flash slowly, indicating successful binding.
  • Compass Calibration: A crucial step before flight, involving rotating the drone horizontally and then with its nose pointed to the sky until beeps and light changes confirm calibration.
  • Gyro Calibration: Performed by a short press of the Gyro Calibration button on the transmitter or via the app. This should be done before each flight.
  • Acquiring GPS Signals: Place the drone on a level, unobstructed outdoor surface. The rear red lights will stay solid, and the transmitter will beep once GPS signals are acquired.
  • Motor Unlocking: The motors can be unlocked by following specific instructions, preparing the drone for flight.

Maintenance Features:

  • Propeller Replacement: The manual provides instructions for replacing propeller blades, emphasizing the correct installation of A/B blades on each shaft.
  • Battery Care: Users are advised to use the original charge cord, avoid charging swollen, leaking, or damaged batteries, and allow the battery to cool down for 10-15 minutes after use before charging. Charging should occur between 40°F and 100°F.
  • Product Inspection: Before each use, users should check the firmness of parts, and inspect the body and propellers for cracks or wear. Any abnormalities require immediate cessation of use and replacement of necessary accessories.
  • Original Accessories: It is recommended to use original accessories for maintenance and replacement.
  • Electronic Waste Disposal: All electronic components and batteries should be disposed of according to local laws and regulations.

Safety Guidelines:

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • Not suitable for individuals under 14 years old without adult supervision.
  • Keep away from high-speed rotating blades.
  • Avoid dangerous environments such as airports, railways, highways, high buildings, and electric lines.
  • Do not operate near high electromagnetic interference sources.
  • Keep away from manned aircraft.
  • Avoid harsh weather conditions (rain, thunder, dust, fog, snow, strong wind, temperatures outside 40-100°F, wind speeds exceeding 10-15mph).
  • Not waterproof; avoid operating near water.
  • Maintain a safe distance (approx. 10 yards) from people or animals during operation.
  • Always keep the aircraft within visual range.
  • Do not hover or fly over crowds or near children.
  • Do not use to chase vehicles or affect their operation.
  • Do not turn off the transmitter while the product is flying.
  • Do not operate under the influence of alcohol, fatigue, medications, or physical discomfort.
  • Do not block moving parts.
  • Do not modify the product or use it for purposes beyond its original design.
  • Adhere to no-fly zone regulations.
  • Keep the aircraft away from heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent damage.
  • Do not short circuit or squeeze the battery.
  • Keep away from inflammables when charging the battery.
  • Do not fly the aircraft close to the face or ears.
  • Keep the aircraft away from other electrical equipment and magnetic objects to avoid interference.
