How to troubleshoot ignition error on RBI Water Heater?
- JJeffery DuncanAug 22, 2025
If you're experiencing an ignition error with your RBI Water Heater, here's what you can do: 1. Watch the igniter through the observation window. 2. If there's no spark, check the spark electrode for the correct 3/16" gap. 3. Remove any corrosion from the spark electrode using an abrasive. 4. If there's a spark but no flame, check the gas supply, looking for high or low pressure. 5. If there is a flame, check the flame signal ignition log in the Installer Menu. If the flame signal values are less than 3.1 µA, check the wiring connections and clean the harness connector at the control. 6. Determine if the gas valve is opening by monitoring gas pressure. 7. Check the gas pressure.
