Indicator Uses
AE Use when playing back recording on a VCR
SPORTS
featuring special effects, such as pause or slow-
motion. Uses high shutter speeds to clearly
capture fast-moving action with less blurring.

AE Use for portraits. Reduces depth-of-field so

background becomes blurry while subject
remains clearly focused.

Use when the subject is in front of a window or
with the sun to their back. Compensates for
subjects appearing too dark because of
backlighting.

Compensates for subjects that appear washed-
out because of front spot lighting.

Use for recording in low-light situations such as
sunrise or sunset or when shooting scenes
including fireworks or neon signs. Focus is set
to infinity, white balance is set to 57OOK, and
shutter speed is set to automatic. Each of these
features also can be manually adjusted.

Use to give effect of old movies. Records in

black-and-white with brown tones. Use with
the 16x9 mode to create a movie effect.
