Care and Maintenance
Model B1
Accelerator
with Integral
Accelo-Check
Features
1. Quickens the operation of dry pipe valves.
2. Increases the number of automatic sprin-
klers controlled by one dry pipe valve.
3. Equalizes rapidly as dry system is being
lled with air to required pressure.
4. Adjusts without operation for small uc-
tuations in system air pressure.
5. Dependable in operation, compact and
light-weight construction.
6. Accelo-Check prevents water and debris
from entering critical areas, minimizing
the need of removing cover plates, etc. to
reset or clean internal mechanisms.
7. Tested and approved for use with all Reli-
able dry pipe valves and dry systems.
8. UL Listed, FM Approved
General
The Reliable Model B1 Accelerator with its integral Ac-
celo-Check (anti-flooding device) is used to speed up the
operation of both dry pipe valves (in dry-type automatic
sprinkler systems) and deluge valves (in pre-action sprin-
kler systems). Both of these system types utilize pressur-
ized air, instead of water, in their piping as to avoid expo-
sure to water sensitive areas and/or freezing conditions.
The accelerated operation of the dry pipe valve floods
the sprinkler system with water permitting a substantial in-
crease in both the number of sprinklers that can be con-
trolled by one dry pipe valve and the volume of the dry
system that can be installed.
Approvals
1. Listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
2. Underwriters’ laboratories of Canada for up to 1500
gal. (5678 liters) systems.
3. Approved by Factory Mutual Research Corporation
4. Loss Prevention Council
5. NYC B5&A No. 587-75-SA.

What to do if Reliable Industrial Equipment accelerator floods with water?
    • S
      steve85Jul 28, 2025
If the Reliable Industrial Equipment accelerator floods with water, several issues could be the cause. First, check Check Valve A for leakage when the system is filled with water; if leaking, wipe off the clapper facing and clean the seat. Also, inspect the Accelo-Check “O”-Ring and replace it if it's missing or cut. Another potential cause is leakage past the Push-Rod Guide “O”-Ring, in which case, replacement is needed. Damaged Push rod or Push-Rod Guide can also lead to leakage, so replace them if necessary. Finally, ensure that condensate from the compressor has been drained by removing Plug B to drain any water from the air supply.

What to do if Reliable Industrial Equipment accelerator will not trip during a system test?
    • E
      Elizabeth StevensonAug 7, 2025
If the Reliable Industrial Equipment accelerator fails to trip during a system test, several factors could be responsible. The top chamber air pressure might be bleeding back to the system too fast through the restriction area; try cleaning the top of the Push-Rod and mating surface in the diaphragm nut, or replace them. A ripped diaphragm can also cause this issue, so replace it if necessary. Check for external leaks in the top chamber by ensuring the gauge and the drain plug are tight, and use new PTFE tape on the plug after each resetting. Lastly, a restricted filter assembly can prevent the accelerator from tripping, so replace the filter assembly.

Why is there no or low air pressure in the top chamber of my Reliable Industrial Equipment?
    • M
      Manuel CraigAug 12, 2025
If there's no or low air pressure in the top chamber of your Reliable Industrial Equipment, with the gauge pressure not increasing and no air pressure in the outlet, it could be due to a clogged filter assembly, which requires replacement. Another possible cause is a clogged restriction area (Passageway G) or a clogged filter on the diaphragm nut, also requiring replacement.

How to fix minor air flow or leakage through Reliable Industrial Equipment accelerator?
    • J
      Javier VelasquezAug 17, 2025
To address minor air flow or leakage through the Reliable Industrial Equipment accelerator, consider these potential causes: contamination in the poppet area, which can be resolved by cleaning; a blown off or cut Poppet “O”-Ring, requiring a new “O”-Ring; a hole or rip in the Accelo-Check diaphragm, necessitating replacement; leakage past the Push-Rod Guide “O”-Ring, which calls for replacement; or damaged Push Rod or Push-Rod Guides, also requiring replacement.

Why does air flow rapidly through Reliable Industrial Equipment when resetting?
    • J
      jessica44Aug 22, 2025
If air flows rapidly through the Reliable Industrial Equipment Accelerator and into the outlet port when resetting, it could be because the Push-Rod is held down by contamination, or the Push-Rod is bent, or the Push-Rod guide is too tight. To resolve this, clean or replace the affected components as needed.

Why Reliable Industrial Equipment accelerator operates prematurely?
    • C
      Carolyn GreerNov 1, 2025
If the Reliable Industrial Equipment accelerator operates prematurely, it could be due to several reasons. There might be water or dirt in the restriction area; if so, clean the top of the Push-Rod and mating surface, and perform a sensitivity test. Another cause could be air not bleeding back through the restriction area, which can be fixed by replacing the Push-Rod and/or diaphragm nut and performing a sensitivity test. Also, ensure that the dry pipe valve is not operating prematurely by reviewing the correct pressure settings from the corresponding system’s technical bulletin. Check the compressor’s pressure switch settings and readjust the differential of pressure switch to a minimum (6-8 psi) when using an accelerator. Finally, repair any excessive leakage between the air/nitrogen sup...
