Overview

The Remington PG760 Head & Body Multi-Groomer, Type No. RG036A, is a versatile grooming appliance designed for trimming facial hair, body hair, and for detailing and edging. It is suitable for both cordless use and can be used in a bath or shower, offering flexibility and convenience. The device is manufactured by Spectrum Brands, Inc. and was released in version 05/23.

Function Description:

The PG760 is a multi-groomer that allows users to trim and style hair on various parts of the head and body. It comes with several attachments to cater to different grooming needs, including a precision T-blade for general trimming, an adjustable stubble comb for varying stubble lengths, a foil shaver attachment for a smooth finish, and a nose and ear trimmer for delicate areas. Fixed guide combs are also included for specific hair lengths. The device is designed for ease of use, with a simple on/off switch and charging indicator lights to keep track of battery status.

Important Technical Specifications:

The device is powered by a non-replaceable Li-ion 750mAH battery. This battery must be charged within a temperature range of 0°C and 45°C. A full charge provides up to 60 minutes of cordless usage. Additionally, the trimmer features a 5-minute quick charge function, which provides enough power for one grooming session. Charging is done via a USB charging cable, which connects to a powered USB port. The charging indicator lights provide clear feedback on the battery level: 0-33%, 33-66%, 66-100%, and a 100% indicator that goes out after 4 seconds once fully charged. During use, the lights indicate remaining charge: 100-66%, 66-33%, 33-10%, and 10-0%.

Usage Features:

The PG760 offers a range of features for diverse grooming tasks:

  • Attachments:
    • Precision T-blade (4): The primary cutting blade for general trimming.
    • Adjustable Stubble Comb (5): This comb allows for stubble lengths from 1.0 to 5 mm, adjustable in 0.5mm increments by turning a wheel. Clockwise rotation increases length, while anticlockwise rotation shortens it.
    • Foil Shaver Attachment (6): Designed for a smooth, clean finish after trimming. It includes foil release buttons (7) for easy removal.
    • Nose and Ear Trimmer (8): For safely and effectively trimming hair in sensitive areas.
    • Fixed Guide Combs (9): These combs come in various lengths (1.5 - 15 mm) for consistent hair cutting.
  • Fitting and Removing Attachments (Fig. A): To remove an attachment, rotate it anti-clockwise until it unlocks, then lift it off. To fit, place the desired attachment on top of the device and rotate it clockwise to lock it into place.
  • Fitting and Removing Fixed Guide Combs: To fit, hook the front of the comb over the blade and press the back down until it clicks. To remove, lift the tab on the back of the comb upwards until it comes free from the blade.
  • Trimming Techniques:
    • General Trimming: Comb hair in the direction of growth before trimming. For best results, try different trimming positions (upwards, downwards, or across) as hairs may not grow in the same direction. Hair should be dry and free from waxes or lotions.
    • Thinning and Tapering Beard/Moustache: Attach an adjustable stubble comb or fixed guide comb to the T-blade. Start with the maximum length setting if trimming for the first time. Trim under the chin, following the jawline, and slowly slide through the hair, working upwards towards the ear and upper beard line. Repeat from different directions. Use the T-blade for tidying beard edges and creating contoured lines.
    • Fine Detailing and Edging: Hold the device with the cutting blade facing you at 90 degrees to the skin. Rest the blade lightly against the skin and use motions towards the edge of the beard line to trim to desired locations.
    • Contour Edging and Close Hair Cutting: For contour edging, hold the device with the cutting blade facing you at 90 degrees to the skin and use slow, controlled movements along the beard/moustache line. For close hair cutting, lift hair at the base of the head with one hand, protecting roots with an index finger, and move the trimmer up the neck with the blade facing up.
    • Hair Clipping: Specific steps are provided for clipping hair on the nape of the neck (3mm or 6mm fixed comb, blade teeth pointing upwards), back of the head (12mm or 15mm guide comb), sides of the head (3mm or 6mm for sideburns, then 9mm for top), and top of the head (longer fixed combs against hair growth direction).
    • Finishing Touches: Use the trimmer without a comb for close trimming around the neck and sides. For straight sideburn lines, place the trimmer at right angles to the head, with blade tips lightly touching the skin, and work downwards.
    • Foil Shaver Use: Fit the foil shaver attachment. Use short, well-controlled linear movements. Stretch the skin with your free hand to make hair stand upright, facilitating shaving. Always trim facial hair before shaving with the foil shaver.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of the Remington PG760:

  • Cleaning After Each Use: Brush any accumulated hairs from the trimmer and attachment heads. The easiest and most hygienic way to clean the trimmer is under the tap.
  • Oiling Blades: Place one or two drops of oil on the blades, turn the appliance on to distribute the oil evenly, then wipe off any excess.
  • Battery Preservation: To preserve battery life, it is recommended to let the batteries run out every 6 months and then fully recharge them. Avoid recharging the product after every use, as this can shorten battery life.
  • Hair Buildup: If hair builds up during use, switch the unit off, remove any attachment, and clean excess hair clippings from the attachment and groomer.
  • Replacing Foils and Cutters: For continued high-quality performance, foils and cutters should be replaced regularly. Signs that replacement is needed include skin irritation, pulling of hair during shaving, or visible wear through the foils. To replace, remove the shaver head (pull up and off), then fit the new head assembly over the hair pocket and press down to click into place.
  • Battery Removal (for recycling): The battery is non-replaceable by the user. At the end of its life, the appliance and battery must be disposed of at an official recycling point. It is strongly recommended that a professional removes the rechargeable battery due to sharp edges and potential injury. Before removal, ensure the device is discharged of all power. Disconnect the charging adapter. Remove any attachment. Carefully pry open the housing using a small screwdriver, unscrew internal components, and disconnect the battery from the circuit board. Do not operate the shaver once opened.

The Remington PG760 is designed for durability and comes with a 3-year guarantee, with an option to register online for an additional 1-year guarantee within 28 days of purchase. Consumables and spare parts (e.g., adaptors, haircare attachments, grooming accessories) are covered by a 1-year warranty.
