Overview

The Remington Power Pro Grooming Kit is a versatile personal care appliance designed for comprehensive hair grooming. This kit includes a hair clipper, a detail trimmer, and a nose & ear trimmer, offering a range of functions to help users achieve their desired look.

Function Description

The Hair Clipper is the primary component for cutting and styling hair on the head. It features an integrated hair texture function, allowing for varied cutting styles beyond simple length reduction. The clipper is designed for both corded and cordless operation, providing flexibility and convenience. Its main purpose is to trim hair to various lengths using adjustable combs, ensuring an even and consistent cut.

The Detail Trimmer is specifically designed for precise trimming tasks. It is ideal for defining edges, shaping sideburns, and handling other areas where fine control is required. This trimmer helps achieve clean lines and detailed finishes, complementing the broader cutting capabilities of the hair clipper.

The Nose & Ear Trimmer is a specialized tool for safely and comfortably removing unwanted hair from the nose and ears. Its design focuses on gentle and effective hair removal from sensitive areas, preventing painful snagging.

Usage Features

Hair Clipper:

Before initial use, the hair clipper requires a full charge to ensure optimal cordless performance. It is crucial to inspect the clipper for any hair or dirt and ensure the hair is thoroughly dry and tangle-free before cutting. The blades should be oiled before every haircut to maintain smooth operation and prevent premature wear.

The hair clipper offers adjustable comb lengths, indicated by a setting indicator and controlled by a comb length adjustment wheel. Two adjustable combs are included: one for shorter lengths (3-15mm) and another for longer lengths (18-30mm). Users can select their desired length by rotating the adjustment wheel.

For hair cutting, the manual provides a step-by-step guide covering different areas of the head:

  • Nape of the Neck: Start at the center of the head at the base of the neck, holding the clipper with blade teeth pointing upwards. Slowly lift the clipper upwards and outwards, trimming a little at a time.
  • Back and Side of the Head: Use a medium length setting (e.g., 9mm or 12mm) to cut hair at the back of the head.
  • Side of the Head: Use the same medium length setting to trim sideburns.
  • Top of the Head: Cut hair against its normal growth direction using the chosen setting. For longer hair, scissors can be used in conjunction with a styling comb to lift and cut hair to the desired length.
  • Finishing Touches: For close trimming around the base and sides of the neck, remove the attachment comb. To create clean, straight lines at the sideburns, reverse the clipper, placing it at right angles to the head with blade tips lightly touching the skin, and work downwards.

The hair clipper can be used directly from a power outlet if the battery is low during cordless operation, though it's generally recommended to use it in cordless mode once fully charged.

Detail Trimmer & Nose & Ear Trimmer:

Both trimmers are battery-operated, using one "AA" alkaline battery each. To insert the battery, the base of the unit is turned clockwise, the battery inserted positive end first, and then the base is turned anti-clockwise to lock it.

  • Nose & Ear Trimmer: To remove hair from the nose or ear, select the nose & ear trimmer and turn it on. Gently insert the cutting unit into the nostril or outer ear canal opening, rotating it in a circular motion. For best efficiency, gently move the trimmer in and out. It is important not to insert the trimmer more than 6mm (1/4") into the nose or ear canal to avoid injury. Always turn the trimmer on before insertion to prevent painful snagging.
  • Detail Trimmer: To trim sideburns, select the detail trimmer and turn it on. Guide the cutting unit to the sideburns, holding the unit horizontally at a 90-degree angle. Move the trimmer slowly and carefully to avoid accidental cuts. It is not recommended to use this trimmer for defining or trimming eyebrows.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to ensure the long-lasting performance of all components in the Remington Power Pro Grooming Kit.

Hair Clipper:

  • After Each Use: Ensure the hair clipper is switched off and unplugged. Brush accumulated hair from the blades and the comb. The body of the unit should be wiped with a damp cloth and dried immediately. Do not submerge the hair clipper in water. Do not rinse the cutter assembly under water.
  • Every Six Months: The blade set should be removed and cleaned. To do this, ensure the clipper is off and unplugged, then remove the comb attachment. Hold the clipper with blades at the top and front facing you. Place your thumb underneath the blades at the front, hold the back of the blade set with your forefinger and middle finger, and firmly press upwards with your thumb to detach the blade set. Brush accumulated hair from the hair pocket and blades. To replace, insert the notch at the bottom of the blade set into the groove of the hair pocket and push down until an audible 'click' is heard, locking it into place.
  • Lubrication: The blades should be oiled before every haircut. Place a few drops of the supplied light-grade oil (or suitable alternative like sewing machine oil) on the teeth of the blades. Avoid using hair oil, grease, or oils mixed with kerosene or solvents, as these can slow the blades and impair cutting performance. Insufficient lubrication can lead to cutting problems, premature blade wear, and a pulling sensation on the hair.

Detail Trimmer & Nose & Ear Trimmer:

  • After Each Use: Brush or blow accumulated hair from the cutting units.
  • Rinsing: The heads of both trimmers are washable. To rinse, twist the attachment head 1cm anti-clockwise to remove it (along with the blade for the nose & ear trimmer). Rinse the heads under cool or warm tap water; do not use hot water. Crucially, do not allow water into the body of the handpiece. After rinsing, shake excess water from the cutter head. Replace the head by turning it 1cm clockwise until it locks into place.
  • Lubrication: After rinsing the attachment heads, apply one or two drops of lubricating oil or sewing machine oil to the cutting teeth and/or blades. Avoid applying too much oil, as it may spray. Point the trimmer down and away from you, and turn it on briefly to spread the oil evenly and expel any excess.

Storage:

When not in use, unplug the hair clipper and store it in a safe, dry place out of reach of children. Never wrap the cord around the hair clipper, as this can cause premature wear and breakage. Handle the cord carefully, avoiding jerking, twisting, or straining, especially at the plug connections. For battery-operated trimmers, remove batteries if not in use for long periods to prevent corrosion. Store all appliances in a moisture-free area, not exceeding 60°C (140°F).

The Remington Power Pro Grooming Kit is designed for household use and is not suitable for use in the bath or shower. It is also not intended for commercial use, which carries a limited 90-day warranty.
