STAGE 5 Driver’s Position
DRIVING RANGE MANAGEMENT
An essential tool for saving energy.
Remind the customer that the battery provides the electrical energy
necessary to the engine for moving the vehicle.
Explain that the remaining driving range displayed is calculated according to the
energy consumption over the last 200 km travelled (or the last 30 km if reset). The
estimated driving range may vary even if the vehicle is 100% charged.
Wind and the heat in the passenger compartment affect driving range, but the
driver cannot influence these factors.
Explain to the customer that they play an active role in their own driving range,
since they have control over certain factors that impact driving range:
• Use of heating and air conditioning.
• Vehicle speed.
• Charging of the vehicle.
• Topography (ascents, flat areas, descents).
Show your customer the different features that will help them reduce their energy
consumption and optimise the driving range of their vehicle.
►Tell your customer that the battery is also sensitive to the outside
temperature and that it performs better in warm weather than in cold
weather.
