2.2.2 Playing a compact disc
(play
CD mode)

Load compact disc
(refer
to
Section
2.2.1).
-
Press PLAY/NEXT
[4]
in order to start
play
mode.
This triggers
the following events:
1. The
compact disc
starts to
rotate.
2. The table of contents
is read from the compact disc
and
transferred
into memory.
3. The table of contents
appears in the display
[7]
(field
E.
black bar
up to 30 selections
can
be
indicated).
4. The first
selection
(TRACK)
on the compact
disc
is
played.
-
lf PLAY/NEXT
[4]
key
is
pressed
again, the
laser
pickup
ad-
vances
to
the beginning of the
next
selection
and the second
selection
is
played.
This is, of course, indicated
in the table of
contents
(display
[7]).
The
bar
(field
E) is now shorter
on the
left
by one segment
(meaning:
one selection
has already been
played)
and
the
digits
02
(:
second selection)
appear below
the
work TRACK
(field
B). lf PLAY/NEXT
[4]
is
pressed
again,
the laser scanner
moves to the start of the next selection.
etc.

lf a numeric
input key
[B]
and
subsequently
PLAY/NEXT
[4]
are
pressed,
the laser
pickup
advances
immediately to the
corresponding
selection
(TRACK).
Example:
To
play
the
14th
selection
(TRACK)
on
the
CD
loaded
in
the
player proceed
as
follows:
-
Press the numeric
keys
1 and 4
[B].
-
Press PLAY/NEXT
[4]:the
laser
pickup
advances to the 14th
selection.
-
Pressing STOP
key
[3]
immediately
terminates the
play
mode
and the
selector
number
in
the display
[7]
is set to
zero. The
bar again
indicates the complete
table of
contents.
-
Pressing REPEAT
[5]
immediately replays
the current
selec-
tion
from
the beginning.
-
VA
[15]
(pause)
suspends
play
mode,
however, the
laser
pick-
up
remains
in the last
position.
The word
PAUSE appears
in
the display.

The PAUSE
function can be cancelled
by
pressing
this
key
again
and
playback
continues
at the same
spot
where it
was
suspended.

Any
location on the compact
disc can be
searched
with
{
[16]
and
tr
[14].
The display
[7]
serves
as a
locating aid.
Field B
indi-
cates
the
selection
(TRACK),
f ield C the TIME
within the
selec-
tion.
This search
is reproducible
with an accuracy
of one
se-
cond.
Brief,
repeated
touching
of
key
[14]
or
[16]
causes
a
small
change
in the
position.
For
rapid
searches
the corre-
sponding
key is
pressed
continuously.
Playback
resumes
au-
tomatically
as soon as the search
key
is released.
For
reposi-
tioning
the
laser
pickup
without
automatic
activating
of
play
mode.

This selection
is
played
immediate-
ly when
VA

(pause)
is
pressed (the
silent
"grooves"
bet-
ween two selections
are skipped).
This function
repeats
itself
after each
selection until
AUTOSTOP
[13]
is
pressed
again.
This f unction
is also reset automatically
when
the end of
a CD
is
reached.
The
display
[7]
indicates
that this
function
has
been
selected.
-
lf LOOP
[18]
is
pressed,
play
restarts from
the beginning
after
the last
selection
(TRACK).
The loaded compact
disc
is re-
peated
for
as
long
as this
function
is
active
(endless
mode).
This
function is also
indicated in the display
[7].
The function
can be
cancelled by
pressing
this
key again.
