Overview

The GT 601 is a sophisticated control panel designed for security systems, offering extensive control and monitoring capabilities. It supports up to 136 zones and 99 individual users, making it suitable for a wide range of premises, from residential to commercial.

Function Description:

The primary function of the GT 601 is to manage and monitor a security system. It allows users to arm (set) and disarm (unset) the system, program user codes, and view system events. Control is primarily facilitated through Remote Keypads (RKPs), with an additional option for Proximity Reader(s) for convenient arming/disarming.

The system includes communication facilities for Central Station monitoring and Vo-Comm (voice communication). Vo-Comm messages can be sent to standard landline telephones or mobile phones, providing alerts and status updates on system events and alarms. This ensures that users or monitoring centers are promptly informed of any security breaches or system changes.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Zones: Supports up to 136 zones, allowing for comprehensive coverage of a property.
  • Users: Accommodates up to 99 individual users, each with potentially different access levels and permissions.
  • Control Interfaces: Operates via Remote Keypads (RKPs) and optional Proximity Readers.
  • Communication: Features Central Station and Vo-Comm capabilities for remote monitoring and alerts. Vo-Comm messages can be directed to landlines or mobile phones.
  • User Code Types:
    • Master Level User Code: Default BS / EN2 is 5678; default EN3 is 005678. This code has the highest level of control, including programming and deleting other user codes.
    • Main Code: Allows for setting, part setting, area setting, zone removal, system testing, and unsetting.
    • Set Only Code: Exclusively allows for setting the system.
    • Cleaner Code: Used for setting the full system or specific cleaner areas.
  • Event Log: Stores a log of system events, which can be viewed by Master users.

Usage Features:

  • Programming & Deleting User Codes: Only Master users can program or delete other user codes. The system allows for specifying the code length. Users are advised not to write down actual user codes for security reasons. Certain user numbers might be reserved for key switches or other system functions, and users are cautioned against using these reserved numbers for programming.
  • User Code Types and Permissions: The GT 601 offers different code types (Set Only, Main, Master) with varying levels of access and control. For instance, a "Set Only" code can only arm the system, while a "Master" code has full administrative control, including programming other users and viewing the event log.
  • Vo-Comm Trigger: Users can configure whether arming or disarming the system with a specific user code will trigger a Vo-Comm message. This feature requires prior programming of the Vo-Comm system.
  • Username Customization: Users can assign a unique username of up to nine characters for each user code, using a character map on the keypad.
  • Time and Date Programming: The system allows for setting the current time and date, including an auto-adjust feature for British Summer Time.
  • Setting the System:
    • Full Setting: The system can be armed using a Master or Main user code. An exit tone sounds, and a countdown is displayed, allowing users to exit the premises. The exit tone changes if any detectors are violated during exit.
    • Part Setting: Allows users to arm specific parts of the system (e.g., Part 1, 2, or 3) using Master or Main type codes. The installation company will inform users about which zones are omitted during part setting. A quick part-setting method is also available by entering YES, YES CODE.
    • Area Setting: If an Area Code is used, only the areas associated with that code will be set.
  • Unsetting the System: To disarm the system, users enter the premises via an authorized entry route (triggering a broken entry tone) and then enter a valid code at the keypad. If an Area Code or Cleaner Code was used for setting, only the corresponding area will be unset.
  • Viewing the Event Log: Master users can access and view the system's event log, which records recent events. Users can navigate through the log, view events from previous/next days, and see zone numbers associated with events.
  • Re-setting the System (Alarm Reset): If an alarm occurs, the system will display an "ALARM" message. Users can reset the system by entering a valid user code. Depending on the system's programming and the level of the alarm, a higher-level code (e.g., Master, Engineer Code, or Anti-Code) might be required. In some cases, contacting the central station or engineer to obtain an Anti-Code might be necessary to reset the system.

Maintenance Features:

  • The manual emphasizes familiarization with the equipment to ensure effective use.
  • It provides clear instructions for programming and managing user codes, which is a key aspect of system security and maintenance.
  • The ability to view the event log assists in diagnosing system issues or reviewing past events.
  • The system's communication capabilities (Central Station, Vo-Comm) contribute to proactive maintenance by alerting users or service providers to potential problems.

The GT 601 is designed to be a robust and flexible security solution, offering comprehensive control and communication features for effective property protection.
