HydraulicSteeringSystem
Your boat has a hydraulic steering system. This system has two basic
elements:helmpumpandcylinder.Thesteeringwheelismountedtothe
shaft of the helm pump. Turning the steering wheel pumps hydraulic
fluid to the steering cylinder. Extra hydraulic fluid prevents air from
enteringthesystem.Areliefvalveprotectsboththemechanicalportion
oftherudder(incasetherudderstrikesahardobject)andthehydraulic
system.Thisisamanualsystem,notapowersteeringsystem.Theeffort
required to turn the wheel will increase as the system is called on to
exertmoreforceonthe engines.Atnotime,should anyoneexpectthis
systemtoturnaseasilyasacar’spowersteering.
Checkthelevelofhydraulicfluidinthehelmregularlyandreplenish,if
necessary.Allothermaintenanceshouldbeperformedbyyourdealer.
PowerSteeringUnit
Yourboatmayhaveanoptionalorstandardpowersteeringunitforthe
hydraulicsteeringsystem.Thisunitispoweredoffofoneengineonly.If
you lose power to the power steering system due to an engine or
electrical issue, you will still maintain your normal hydraulic steering
system
MultifunctionNavigationDisplaySystem
An optional high performance multifunction display is availableon
selectmodels.Robaloprovidesoneofthemostpowerfulmulti‐function
navigational display systems, packedwithpowerandperformance
features. Boat owners will have access to 3D chart‐plotting, HD Digital
technology,SiriusSatelliteWeatherandmore.
Caution: Acceleration at full throttle isnotrecommendedforcertain
periods of the engine “break‐in period.” Refer to the engine owner’s
manualformoredetails.
Throttle
Thethrottlecontrolstheboat’sspeedandthedirectiontheboattravels.
Ifthethrottleisinitscenterneutralposition,theboatwill not move
forward or aft with the engine running. Moving the throttle forward
fromcentermovestheboatforward.Movingthethrottleaftmovesthe
boatbackward.Thespeedatwhichtheboatmovesisdirectlyrelatedto
howfartheoperatorpushesthethrottle.
Note:Thethrottlemustbeinitscenterneutralpositionbeforethe
enginewillstart.Seeyourenginemanufacturer’sowner’smanual

Controls
Steering
Otherthanthecommonsenseandgoodjudgmentoftheoperator,the
steering system is the most important safety system on your boat.
Factors requiring operator attention for safe steering include engine
torque,trimtabsettings,wavesandspeed.
PowerTrim
Thepowertrimsystemallowstheoperatortoraiseandlowerthe
outboardtoadjustthedriveanglewhileunderway.Italsoallows the
operator to raise and lower the drive for trailering, beaching,and
operation in shallow water. Control your trim setting with the trim
switch on the control handle. Section 5 discusses the importance of
propertrimwhileoperatingyourboat.
