KEYBOARD SCALING
(scale tuning)
Your E-35 can provide you with musi-
cal scales different from the well tem-
pered one. This feature can be
particularly useful when performing
pieces which require an oriental type of
tuning.
In fact, when playing the notes in the
UPPER section, it is possible to lower
by 50 cents (a quarter of a tone) a no-
te(s) of the scale.
To lower the note(s) by a quarter-tone,
simply press and hold the KBD VELO-
CITY/SCALE tab [53]. After a few se-
conds, the corresponding led will start
blinking. The Display will show “KEY-
BOARD SCALING”.
While continuing to hold the tab, press
on the keyboard (in any octaves from
C-2 to B-5 and except for the last octa-
ve that is C6-C7) the key (or keys) which
is (are) to be lowered by a quarter-tone.
Once this operation has been performed
and after releasing the KBD VELOCI-
TY/SCALE tab, the notes selected
using the procedure described above
will result tuned by a quarter-tone lo-
wer in comparison with the well tem-
pered scale.
It is possible to enable or disable tem-
porarily the newly set scale by pressing
and holding the KBD VELOCI-
TY/SCALE tab (the Led will blink) and
then pressing the last key of the key-
board (C7).
The alterations made performing the-
se operations can be cancelled simply
by pressing and holding the KBD VE-
LOCITY/SCALE tab (the Led is blin-
king) and pressing simultaneously the
Bb key of the sixth octave.
Upon releasing the KBD VELOCI-
TY/SCALE tab, the Led will stop blin-
king and will show again the ON/OFF
condition of the Keyboard Velocity Pa-
rameter.
When turning on again the E-35, the
standard pitch will be reset.
Every time you wish to play your E-35
using a different scale, repeat the pro-
cedure described above when turning
on the instrument.

Thr E-35 bietet Ihnen die Méglichkeit,
andere musikalische Skalen als die
wohltemperierte zu benutzen. Diese ist
besonders dann sehr niitzlich, wenn Sie
Musikstticke spielen wollen, die orien-
talische, arabische Skalen usw. er-
fordern. ,
Es ist tatsachlich méglich, eine oder
mehrere Noten des UPPER Tastatur-
bereiches um 50 Cents (ein Viertelton)
zu erniedrigen.
Um einzelne Téne um einen Viertelton
zu erniedrigen, halten Sie einfach die
KBD VELOCITY/SCALE-Taste [53]
gedrickt. Nach einigen Sekunden be-
ginnt die dazugehérige Led zu blinken.
Im Display wird “KEYBOARD SCA-
LING” angezeigt.

Wahrend Sie weitherhin diese Taste ge-
driickt halten, driicken Sie auf der Ta-
statur die Taste (Tasten) der Note
(Noten), die Sie um einen Viertelton er-
niedrigen méchten. Es kénnen nur Ta-
sten zwischen C-2 und B 5 gedriickt
werden. Diese Funktion arbeitet nicht,
wenn eine Taste der letzten Oktave
(C-6 bis C-7) gedriickt wird.
Nach Beendigung dieses Bedienvor-
ganges und nach dem Loslassen der
KBD VELOCITY/SCALE-Taste, er-
klingen die ausgewdhlten Noten im
Vergleich zur wohltemperierten Skala
einen Viertelton tiefer. Es ist méglich,
die neu gesetzte Stimmung zeitweilig
zu aktivieren oder zu desaktivieren. Da-
zu mtissen Sie die KBD VELOCI-
TY/SCALE-Taste gedriickt halten (die
Led blinkt) und dann die oberste Taste
der Tastatur (C-7) driicken. Die durch
diese Bedienschritte vorgenommenen
Veranderungen kénnen einfach durch
gleichzeitiges Dricken der KBD VE-
LOCITY/SCALE-Taste (die Led blinkt)
und der Taste Bb der sechsten Oktave
riickgangig gemacht werden. Nach
Loslassen der KBD VELOCI-
TY/SCALE-Taste hért die Led auf zu
blinken und zeigt wieder den AN/AUS
Zustand des Keyboard Velocity Para-
meters an. Bei jedem Einschalten wird
das E-35 auf die Standard Tonhéhe zu-
riickgesetzt. Jedes Mal, wenn Sie auf
Ihrem E-35 verschiedene Skalen spie-
len méchten, wiederholen Sie die oben
beschriebenen Bedienschritte nach dem
Einschalten des Instrumentes.

Avec le E-35 vous pourrez obtenir une
gamme différente par rapport a la gam-
me bien tempérée. Cette fonction peut
étre particuliérement utile pour exécu-
ter des morceaux avec un accordage de
type oriental.
En effet, il est possible de réduire de
50 cents (un quart de ton) une ou plu-
sieurs notes de la gamme.
Pour diminuer une note (ou plusieurs
notes) d’un quart de ton, il faut enfon-
cer et maintenir le bouton KBD VELO-
CITY/SCALE [53]. Aprés quelques
secondes, la Led correspondante com-
mencera 4 clignoter. Le Display affiche-
ra: “KEYBOARD SCALING”.
Tout en continuant 4 maintenir le bou-
ton pressé, enfoncez sur le clavier dans
une octave quelconque entre DO2 et
SI5 (@ exception de la derniére C6/C7),
la touche relative au degré de la gam-
me & diminuer d’un quart de ton.
Une fois cette opération effectuée et
aprés avoir relaché le bouton KBD VE-
LOCITY/SCALE, les notes sélection-
nées par la procédure décrite ci-dessus
seront accordées un quart de ton plus
bas par rapport 4 la gamme.
Vous pourrez activer et désactiver en
méme temps ce type d’accordage en
pressant et maintenant le bouton KBD
VELOCITY/SCALE (la Led clignote)
et la derniére touche a droite (DO7).
Pour effacer les opérations effectuées
pressez et maintenez simplement le
bouton KBD VELOCITY/SCALE (la
Led clignotera) et si vous enfoncez en
méme temps la touche SIb de la sixié-
me octave (dernier SIb 4 droite).
Si vous relachez le bouton KBD VELO-
CITY/SCALE, la Led ne clignotera
plus et indiquera la condition ON/OFF
du paramétre Keyboard Velocity.
Si vous allumez votre E-35 4 nouveau,
la tonalité standard sera rétablie.
Chaque fois que vous souhaitez jouer du
E-35 dans une gamme différente, répé-
tez la procédure ci-dessus, quand vous
mettez en marche votre instrument.
