Recording EQ
For this example we will record a guitar (again, you can substitute any audio source), plugged into Input 1,
to Track 6 with EQ.
1) Begin by plugging a guitar directly into Input A 1.
2) Hold SHIFT and press SELECT under MIXER MODE, to choose INPUT MIX/TRACK MIX mode.
3) Press SELECT as needed to choose INPUT MIX Mode.
A. Route the Input to a Track
We will start by routing Input A 1 to be recorded on Track 6.
1) Press the CH EDIT button 1 to select channel 1.
2) Hold SHIFT and press the CH EDIT button 1 to select the Input/BUSS screen.
3) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select ÒBuss Sel= 5-6Ó as the recording buss for Input A 1. This means that
Input A 1 can be recorded on either or both Tracks 5 and 6, depending on the position of the PAN knob.

4) Now, since we want the whole guitar signal to record on one Track only (for this example), turn the PAN
knob on channel 1 all the way to the right. This will prevent the signal from being routed to Track 5.
Note: Setting the PAN knob to the center would send the signal equally to Tracks 5 & 6.
5) Press the STATUS button on channel 6 until the light is flashing red (REC). Now, Track 6 is ÒarmedÓ to
record.
B. Adjust the recording and playback levels
Since weÕre recording onto Track 6, the channel 6 fader will be used to adjust the playback level. The
record level will be adjusted with the Input 1 fader. The record level will be adjusted in INPUT MIX
mode where the playback level will be adjusted in TRACK MIX mode.
1) Press SELECT to toggle to TRACK MIX mode.
2) Set the channel 6 fader to 0dB (nominal) for right now. You will notice that zero is about three-quarters
the way up on the fader path Ð not at the bottom.
Note: If necessary, bring the fader all the way up then all the way down to cross the null point.
3) Set the PAN knob on channel 6 to the desired pan position. For now, letÕs just keep it at the center position.
Note: You can always make fine adjustments to the playback level and pan position later. For now, we
just want to be able to monitor the sound.
4) Press SELECT to toggle back to INPUT MIX mode.
5) Play the guitar and adjust the INPUT SENS 1 knob for optimum Input level.
6) Use the on channel 1 fader to adjust the
recording
level to disk (if necessary, bring the fader all the way up
then all the way down to cross the null point).
C. View
If you want to see the levels youÕre setting on the screen, hold the SHIFT button while pressing the
DISPLAY button. For a view of the level before it is adjusted by the fader, choose ÒPre Level.Ó If you
want to see the levels change in the display as you move the faders, choose ÒPost Level.Ó While youÕre
holding the SHIFT button, the DISPLAY button will select a different display choice each time you
press it. There are four to choose from: Pre Level, Post Level, Play List and Fader/Pan. (See pages 2
and 3 for more details).
