Why Ryobi 780r Trimmer engine will not start?
    • R
      Rhonda RobbinsJul 31, 2025
If your Ryobi Trimmer engine won't start, there are several potential causes. First, ensure the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. Check the fuel tank and fill it if it's empty. Make sure to press the primer bulb fully and slowly 5-7 times. If the engine is flooded, follow the starting procedure with the choke lever in the RUN position. Old or improperly mixed fuel can also be a culprit, so drain the tank and add fresh fuel mixture. Lastly, a fouled spark plug may be the issue, in which case you should replace or clean it.

How to fix Ryobi 780r cutting head that will not advance line?
    • M
      mariah88Aug 11, 2025
If the cutting head of your Ryobi Trimmer will not advance the line, several issues could be the cause. The cutting head might be bound with grass, so stop the engine and clean the cutting attachment. The inner reel could be bound up, so refill it with a new line. If the cutting head is dirty, clean the inner reel and outer spool. If the line is welded, disassemble, remove the welded section, and rewind the line. If the line is twisted when refilled, disassemble and rewind it. Finally, if not enough line is exposed, push the Bump Knob and pull out the line until 4 in. (102 mm.) of line is outside of the cutting attachment.
