Problem Possible cause Solution
Handle not in correct
position.
Handle positioned incorrectly. Check to be sure that lower part of handle is pushed fully
back and snapped into proper position.
Handle knobs not tightened. Tighten handle knobs.
Mower does not
start.
No petrol. Fill mower with petrol. If mower still does not start, contact
a servicing dealer.
Engine is ooded. Wait 15 minutes, then try starting mower again. Do not
prime before attempting to start.
Starter rope is harder to pull now than
when it was new.
Contact a servicing dealer.
Mower hard to push. High grass, rear of mower housing
and blade dragging in heavy grass, or
cutting height too low.
Raise cutting height.
Wheel assembly needs cleaning. Clean wheel assembly. See Drive Gear Maintenance.
Mower vibrating at
higher speed.
Blade is unbalanced. Replace blade.
Bent motor shaft. Stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire from the
spark plug, and inspect for damage. Have repaired by an
authorized service center before restarting.
Grass catcher not
filling with grass, but
grass is being cut
from lawn.
Discharge chute blocked Stop engine, wait for it to stop, remove spark plug. Remove
grass catcher and lift discharge chute cover. Beware
of sharp blade, avoid contact. Remove debris from the
discharge chute.
