Why won't my Ryobi RLT430CES Trimmer engine start?
    • G
      Gerald ElliottJul 31, 2025
There are several reasons why your Ryobi Trimmer engine might not start: * There may be no spark. Try cleaning or replacing the spark plug and resetting the spark plug gap. * There may be no fuel. Push the primer bulb until it is full of fuel. If it doesn't fill, the primary fuel delivery system may be blocked. Contact a service dealer. If the primer bulb fills, the engine may be flooded. * The engine might be flooded. Set the start lever to the START position, squeeze the trigger, and pull the rope repeatedly until the engine starts and runs. Note that depending on the severity of the flooding, this may require numerous pulls of the rope.

What to do if Ryobi Trimmer line will not advance?
    • C
      Carl MorenoAug 8, 2025
If the line on your Ryobi Trimmer won't advance, consider these possibilities: * The line may be welded to itself. Replace the line. * There might not be enough line on the spool. Install more line. * The line could be worn too short. Pull lines while alternately pressing down on and releasing spool retainer. * The line may be tangled on the spool. Remove the line from the spool and rewind it. * The engine speed might be too slow. Advance the line at full throttle.

How to fix Ryobi RLT430CES Trimmer engine that has difficulties starting in colder (winter) conditions?
    • M
      matthewwestAug 13, 2025
If your Ryobi Trimmer engine is having trouble starting in colder conditions, it may be due to fuel having trouble atomizing. Here's what to do: 1. Lay the trimmer on a level surface. 2. Place the engine switch to the "ON" (I) position. 3. PRIME - press the primer bulb 10 times slowly. 4. SET the choke lever to the "START" position. 5. PULL the starter rope with a quick firm and consistent upward motion until the engine starts/fires. 6. Re-adjust choke lever to half way and allow engine to warm up for 5-20 seconds. If the engine has attempted to start but fails to run on, Re-start the engine in the half choke position and allow engine to warm up. 7. Squeeze throttle trigger to disengage the fast idle (which automatically adjusts choke to run position).
