Overview

This document is an operator's manual for the Ryobi RPW130S and RPW140S Electric Pressure Washers.

Function Description

The Ryobi RPW130S and RPW140S are electric pressure washers designed for cleaning vehicles, machines, boats, and buildings by removing stubborn dirt using clean water and chemical detergents. They are intended for domestic use only, not for professional use, and for operation at temperatures above 0°C. When using chemical detergents, only highly biodegradable types should be used. The cleaner is equipped with an adjustable nozzle, providing both low-pressure operation (for suction and spraying of detergent) and high-pressure operation (for high-pressure washing and rinsing). The jet can be adjusted from a pencil stream to a fan spray.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual provides detailed technical specifications for both models:

Specification RPW130S RPW140S
Rated voltage 220-240/50 V~/Hz 220-240/50 V~/Hz
Rated Pressure 100(10) Bar (Mpa) 110(11) Bar (Mpa)
Permissible Pressure 130(13) Bar (Mpa) 150(15) Bar (Mpa)
Power Rating 1800 W 2000 W
Maximum Water Flow 6 L/min 6.67 L/min
Maximum Water Inlet pressure 7(0.7) Bar (Mpa) 7(0.7) Bar (Mpa)
LWA (sound power level) 86 dB(A) 86 dB(A)
LpA (sound pressure level) 74 dB(A) 74 dB(A)
Protection Degree IPX5 IPX5
Vibration r.m.s. acceleration 1.2 m/s² 1.2 m/s²

The appliance is not suitable for connection to drinking water mains without a backflow preventer. The intake water temperature must not exceed 40°C (104°F), and the water supply must not exceed 5 bar (0.5Mpa).

Usage Features

Safety First: The manual emphasizes reading and understanding all instructions before use to prevent electric shock and serious personal injury. It highlights the importance of keeping children and visitors away from the work area, wearing safety glasses with side shields, and avoiding operating the equipment barefoot or with sandals. Users should not overreach or stand on unstable support. The appliance should not be used if the supply cord or important parts (e.g., safety devices, high-pressure hoses, trigger gun) are damaged. Only original spare parts and accessories recommended by the manufacturer should be used. The machine should never be left running unattended.

Operation: To start, ensure the motor switch is in the "OFF" position. Check that the electrical supply voltage and frequency match the cleaner's rating plate. The cleaner must only be connected to power sockets with a regulated earth connection, and a differential safety breaker (30mA) is recommended. Turn on the water supply tap fully, release the safety lock on the trigger gun, and press the trigger for a few seconds to allow air to escape and discharge residual pressure. Then, with the trigger pressed, push the switch to start the motor. When re-starting, always keep the trigger pressed.

Detergent Use: Liquid detergent must be sprayed at low pressure. Fill the detergent tank to the indicated level. The cleaner is equipped with an adjustable nozzle for detergent application.

Cleaning Procedure: To dissolve dirt, apply detergent with the fan jet to the dry surface, working from the bottom upwards on vertical surfaces. Allow the detergent to act for 1 to 2 minutes without drying out. Then, apply the high-pressure jet, keeping the nozzle at least 30cm (10 inches) from the surface, again working from the bottom upwards. Avoid allowing rinsing water to run onto unwanted surfaces.

Storage: After use, switch off the cleaner and turn off the water supply tap. Remove any detergent residuals from the tank. Discharge residual pressure by pressing the trigger until no more water comes out of the adjustable nozzle. Engage the gun safety lock and remove the plug from the socket. For winter storage, operate the cleaner with non-corrosive/non-toxic antifreeze.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance: Before any maintenance, disconnect the plug from the power supply socket. To ensure good performance, check and clean the suction and detergent filters every 50 hours of operation.

Nozzle Cleaning: Clean the nozzle with the provided tool. Remove the lance from the gun, then remove any dirt from the nozzle hole and rinse.

Safety Valve: The safety valve also functions as a pressure limiting valve. When the gun trigger is released, the safety valve opens, and water recirculates through the pump inlet.

Electrical Safety: The electrical supply connection must be made by a qualified electrician and comply with IEC 60364-1. An extension cord, if used, must have a cross-section proportional to its length (e.g., 3 x 1.5 mm² for up to 25m, 3 x 2.5 mm² for up to 50m) and a protection level of IPX5. The plug and socket of an extension cord must be watertight.

Water Supply Connection: When connecting to the water supply mains, local regulations must be observed. The appliance must not be connected directly to public drinking water supply mains without backflow prevention devices. If connected to potable water mains, backflow prevention devices should be incorporated into the water supply system, installed by professional technical personnel, and comply with EN 60335-2-79/A2: 2007.

Disposal: Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste but recycled where facilities exist.
