This document provides the owner's operating manual for the RYOBI VC20HDRG Wet & Dry Vacuum Cleaner. It outlines the device's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance procedures.
Function Description
The RYOBI VC20HDRG is a versatile wet and dry vacuum cleaner designed for use in private households. Its primary function is to vacuum up materials that are not hazardous to health and are not flammable. It can perform both dry vacuuming using a dust bag or a cartridge filter, and wet vacuuming using a foam filter. The appliance is equipped with a float switch that automatically stops vacuuming when the tank is full during wet operation, preventing overflow. It is not intended for commercial use or for vacuuming hazardous materials, hot ashes, pointed/sharp objects, or flammable/poisonous liquids.

Assembly:
- Unpack all components and check against the parts list.
- Fold the two clamps holding the upper section upwards, then loosen them and lift the upper section off the tank.
- Slide the handle onto the upper section, ensuring the guide of the handle fastener is inserted correctly, then fasten it with two screws.
- Turn the tank over and insert the four rollers into the guides on the bottom, ensuring they are pushed completely in, then fasten them with four screws.
- Depending on the intended use (wet or dry vacuuming), insert the appropriate filter:
- For wet vacuuming, insert the foam filter over the filter basket.
- For dry vacuuming, insert the dust bag over the hose connection in the tank, ensuring it snaps firmly into place and is not damaged. If using the cartridge filter for dry vacuuming, place it on the filter basket and turn on the cartridge filter cap.
- Replace the upper section on the tank, align it with the clamps, and press the clamps downwards to snap them into place.
- Attach the large end of the hose to the front air intake stub on the tank.
- Select the desired nozzle (e.g., floor tool, crevice tool) or wand and slide it over the suction tube.
- After use, store accessories by attaching them to the corresponding holders on the vacuum cleaner.
Dry Vacuuming Operation:
- Ensure the appliance is unplugged from the power mains.
- Verify the foam filter is clean, dry, and installed over the filter basket (or cartridge filter is installed).
- Insert the dust bag securely over the hose connection in the tank.
- Place the upper section back on the tank and close the clamps.
- Connect the hose to the front air intake stub on the tank.
- Attach the desired nozzle or tube to the vacuum hose.
- Ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the "OFF" (0) position before plugging the power plug into the receptacle.
- Plug in the power plug.
- Switch the motor on (ON/OFF switch in "I" position).
- After vacuuming, switch the motor off (ON/OFF switch in "O" position) and unplug the power plug.
- Regularly check the dust bag and change it when it is 2/3 full. Do not reuse used dust bags.
- Do not use the dust bag for vacuuming objects with sharp edges or wet objects.
Wet Vacuuming Operation:
- Ensure the appliance is unplugged from the power mains.
- Check that the tank is free of dust and dirt.
- Remove the dust bag and leave only the foam filter over the filter basket.
- Place the upper section back on the tank and close the clamps.
- Connect the hose to the front air intake stub on the tank.
- Attach the desired nozzle or telescopic tube to the suction tube.
- Ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the "OFF" (0) position before plugging the power plug into the receptacle.
- Plug in the power plug.
- Switch the motor on (ON/OFF switch in "I" position).
- If vacuuming a large quantity of liquid, avoid submerging the entire suction nozzle; leave a small gap for air intake.
- The float switch will stop vacuuming when the tank is full. In this event, switch off and unplug the appliance.
- To empty a full tank, place the appliance over a drain and carefully open the outlet screw.
- Remove the upper section from the tank and pour any remaining liquid into a suitable container or drain.
- After wet vacuuming, switch off the appliance and unplug it. Empty and clean/dry the container inside and out before storage.
- After wet vacuuming, proceed with dry vacuuming steps before dry vacuuming again.
