Usage Features
The machine offers various beverage options and user-friendly features:
- Beverage Selection: Dedicated buttons for "Long Coffee," "Espresso," "Manual Brewing," "Hot Water," "Coffee with a dash of milk," "Cappuccino," "Latte Macchiato," and "Milk."
- Manual Brewing: Allows users to choose the length of the coffee product.
- Hot Water Dispensing: Provides hot water for other beverages.
- Adjustable Coffee Dispensing Spout: The height of the spout can be manually adjusted to accommodate different cup and mug sizes, with recommended positions for small cups and large cups/Latte Macchiato cups.
- Cappuccinatore: Integrated system for preparing milk-based beverages. The suction hose is inserted into a milk container for operation.
- Water Hardness Measurement and Adjustment: A test strip (not included) can be used to measure water hardness, which is crucial for managing the anti-scale filter and descaling frequency. The machine's settings can be adjusted based on the measured hardness (very soft, soft, medium, hard).
- Water Filter: An "Intenza +" water filter can be installed to reduce limescale and improve coffee aroma. The machine tracks filter capacity and prompts for replacement.
- Warm-up and Rinsing: Upon startup, the machine may ask to perform a rinse cycle. It also performs a warm-up phase and cleaning cycle when cold or after a period of inactivity.
- Capsule Loading: Capsules are loaded into a tray by pushing it upwards. It's important to insert capsules correctly and not force the tray. The machine will indicate if a capsule is not inserted or if the tray is open.
- Capsule Drawer and Drip Tray: The machine alerts the user when the capsule drawer is full and needs to be emptied. The capsule drawer and drip tray must be removed and emptied regularly.
- Coffee Temperature Range: Users can select the desired temperature range for capsule products (MAX, MED, MIN).
- Prebrewing: This feature soaks the coffee pod before brewing to enhance aroma, with options for "No," "Short" (1 sec), "Medium" (2.5 sec), and "Long" (3 sec) pre-brewing.
- Language Selection: Multiple language options are available, including Italian, English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, and Slovenian.
- Stop Brewing Out of Credits: This function allows adjustment of machine operation when credits are used up, either allowing dispensing or preventing it.
- High Speed Milk: Enables quicker dispensing of mixed milk and coffee products by simultaneously preparing both.
- Power-on BU Rinsing Request: Can be enabled or disabled.
- Display Contrast: Adjustable for better visibility.
- Capsules Alarm: Alerts the user when the capsule drawer needs to be emptied. Disabling this alarm may cause malfunctions.
- Maximum Pressure: Allows modification of pump power for brewing coffee products at higher pressure.
- Credit Management: Functions for setting credit alarm thresholds and charging credits, useful for controlled sales environments.
- Stand-by Time: Adjustable time after which the machine enters "stand-by" mode (30 MIN, 60 MIN, 180 MIN, or NO STANDBY).
- Password Protection: Technical, Maintenance, and User menus can be password-protected to prevent unauthorized access and changes to settings.
- Factory Settings Restore: Option to restore the machine to factory configuration settings.
- Firmware Update: Allows downloading firmware using the SerProgr SAECO Vending kit.
Maintenance Features
Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for the machine's longevity and hygienic operation.
- General Cleaning: Non-removable components and the machine housing should be cleaned with cold or lukewarm water, a non-abrasive sponge, and a damp cloth. Direct jets of water should never be used. Chlorine-based tablets should be avoided.
- Maintenance Schedule: A schedule outlines required operations:
- Emptying and cleaning the capsule drawer: As needed or weekly.
- Cleaning the capsule loading tray: As needed.
- Water tank cleaning: As needed or weekly.
- Rinsing: Daily.
- Cappuccinatore thorough cleaning: Daily.
- Descaling: As needed.
- Water Tank Cleaning: Remove the lid and clean with a non-abrasive detergent, then rinse with fresh water and dry.
- Rinsing Internal Circuits: Should be done at least once a day.
- Cappuccinatore Cleaning (After Each Use):
- Light Clean: The machine prompts for a light clean after each milk-based product dispensing if enabled. This involves hot water passing through the frothing system.
- Thorough Cleaning: All Cappuccinatore parts must be thoroughly cleaned daily with a specific detergent. This involves disassembling the Cappuccinatore, removing the suction tube, ring, and valve, cleaning them with brushes (6mm and 4mm diameter) and a scraper for the suction hose, and then reassembling. All removable parts, except the Cappuccinatore itself, can be washed in the dishwasher at temperatures not higher than 70°C.
- Descaling: The machine's advanced electronics indicate when descaling is required. The process involves removing the water tank and anti-scale filter, pouring descaling solution and water into the tank, and running a two-phase descaling cycle followed by rinsing with fresh water. It is critical to use only Saeco descaling solution and never vinegar.
- Water Filter Management: Procedures for preparing, installing, replacing, and removing the water filter are detailed. The machine guides the user through activation and replacement processes, including descaling if necessary before activating a new filter.
- Error Management: The machine displays warning signals and alarm warnings, providing instructions on how to reset them. A troubleshooting section lists error codes, their causes, and solutions, including contacting the service provider for persistent issues.
