omitted over a single link. It is beneficial to compress those headers to provide high-capacity
packet saving, achieve better bandwidth utilization, and efficiently use expensive resources.
Reduction in packet loss and improved interactive response time are additional important
benefits gained by header compression.
In summary, header compression is the process of compressing excess protocol headers
before transmitting them on a link and uncompressing them to their original state on
reception at the other end of the link.
