Why is my Sage Coffee Maker espresso running out too quickly?
    • C
      Christopher HillAug 15, 2025
If the espresso runs out too quickly from your Sage Coffee Maker, and the pressure gauge isn't reaching 9 bar, it could be due to several reasons. The coffee might be ground too coarsely; try using a slightly finer grind. Alternatively, there might not be enough coffee in the filter basket; increase the dose and use the RAZOR™ dosing tool to trim off any excess after tamping. Also, ensure the coffee is tamped firmly enough, applying between 15-20kgs of pressure. If these suggestions do not help, place an EMPTY Dual Wall filter basket into the portafilter (either 1 CUP or 2 CUP), and press the MANUAL button. If the pressure gauge reads over 5 bar the machine is OK. Ensure correct dose by using the RAZOR™ dosing tool. If the dose is correct, make the grind finer.

How to fix espresso running around portafilter edge on my Sage Dual Boiler Coffee Maker?
    • N
      Natalie GlennAug 18, 2025
If espresso runs out around the edge of the portafilter or the portafilter comes out of the group head during extraction with your Sage Coffee Maker, make sure the portafilter is rotated to the right until the handle is past the center and securely locked. Also, clean excess coffee from the rim of the filter basket to ensure a proper seal in the group head. Always ensure the filter basket and portafilter are dried thoroughly before filling with coffee, tamping, and inserting into the group head. If there is too much coffee in the filter basket, trim the dose using the RAZOR™ dosing tool after tamping.

Why is my Sage Dual Boiler Coffee Maker coffee not hot enough?
    • M
      Monica ClarkAug 22, 2025
If your coffee isn't hot enough when using your Sage Coffee Maker, there are a few potential causes. Firstly, ensure that your cups are preheated by rinsing them under the hot water outlet and placing them on the cup warming tray. If you're making a cappuccino or latte, make sure the milk is heated until the side of the jug becomes hot to the touch. Stale coffee beans can also affect the temperature, so buy freshly roasted coffee with a roasted-on date.

What to do if water doesn't flow from my Sage Dual Boiler group head?
    • H
      Heidi PetersenAug 26, 2025
If water isn't flowing from the group head of your Sage Coffee Maker, it could be due to a few reasons. First, allow time for the machine to reach operating temperature; the POWER light will stop flashing when ready. Also, check if the water tank is empty and fill it if necessary. Finally, ensure the water tank is fully inserted and locked into position by pushing it in fully and closing the latch.

Why does espresso only drip from my Sage Dual Boiler?
    • G
      glenngloverAug 28, 2025
If espresso only drips from the portafilter spouts of your Sage Coffee Maker, it may be because the coffee is ground too finely; try using a slightly coarser grind. Also, check if there's too much coffee in the filter basket and lower the dose using the RAZOR™ dosing tool. The filter basket may also be blocked. Use the fine pin on the provided cleaning tool to clear the outlet hole(s) on the underside of the filter basket. If it continues to be blocked, dissolve a cleaning tablet in hot water and soak filter basket and portafilter in the solution for approx. 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

    • K
      Kyle GreenSep 7, 2025
If the LCD screen on your Sage Coffee Maker displays 'FILL TANK' even when the water tank is full, it indicates that the water tank is not fully inserted and locked into position. Push the water tank in fully and close the latch to resolve this.

Why are the pumps still running on my Sage Dual Boiler Coffee Maker?
    • M
      Monica WoodsSep 12, 2025
The pumps might continue to operate, the steam might be very wet, or the hot water outlet might leak on your Sage Coffee Maker if you're using de-mineralized or distilled water, which affects how the machine is designed to function. It is recommended using cold, filtered water. Avoid water with no/low mineral content such as de-mineralised or distilled water.
