Servicing
The control valve was checked by SAMSON
before delivery.
Certain test results certied by SAMSON
lose their validity when the valve is
opened. Such testing includes seat leakage
and leak tests.
The product warranty becomes void if ser-
vice or repair work not described in these
instructions is performed without prior
agreement by SAMSON's After-sales Ser-
vice.
Only use original spare parts by
SAMSON, which comply with the original
specications.
9.1 Periodic testing
Depending on the operating conditions,
check the valve at certain intervals to prevent
possible failure before it can occur. Plant op-
erators are responsible for drawing up an
inspection and test plan.
Our after-sales service can support you in
drawing up an inspection and test plan for
your plant.
Note
Tip
SAMSON recommends the following inspections and tests:
Inspection and testing Recommended action to be taken in the event of a
negative result
Check the markings, labels and
nameplates on the valve for their
readability and completeness.
Immediately renew damaged, missing or incorrect
nameplates or labels.
Clean any inscriptions that are covered with dirt and are
illegible.
External leakage (fugitive emissions)
1)
:
Inspect the control valve at the possible
points of leakage to ensure there is no
leakage (see Fig.9-1).
Versions with bellows seal:
WARNING! Risk of personal injury due
to pressurized components and as a
result of process medium being
discharged.
Do not loosen the screw of the test
connection while the valve is
pressurized.
Check anged joints (tightening torques).
Replace the gaskets at the anged joints. For this purpose,
put the control valve out of operation (see the
'Decommissioning' chapter).
Version with adjustable packing
2)
: adjust the packing (see
section 'Adjusting the packing' in the 'Installation' chapter >
'Testing the installed valve') or replace the packing. To
replace the packing, put the control valve out of operation
(see the 'Decommissioning' chapter).
If the bellows seal is defective, put the control valve out of
operation (see the 'Decommissioning' chapter). To repair the
bellows seal, contact our after-sales service (see the
'Repairs' chapter).
