The QEx Fitness Headset employs noise canceling techniques to provide noise reduction, improve
clarity and gain before feedback. These techniques allow the QEx to be used in environments and
facilities where the sound system might not be optimal. First, the small size of the microphone
capsule and the short distance between the microphone and the mouth reduces the sensitivity at 1
kHz for far field noise by 10 dB. And noise at lower frequencies is additionally attenuated. Finally,
the bi-directional polar pattern reduces signal coming from a 90° angle by 15 dB compared to
signal originating from directly in front of the mic capsule.
