Overview

This document is a user guide for a Samsung TV, covering various aspects of its operation, features, and troubleshooting.

Connections

The TV supports various external device connections for live broadcasts, network access, and multimedia playback.

  • Antenna (Aerial) Connection: Connect an antenna cable to the TV for live broadcasts. A cable box or satellite box negates the need for an antenna. For optimal reception, especially with Multi-Switch or DiSEqC, set the Aerial Connection Type to Dual.
  • Network Connection: Access the internet via wired or wireless connections. For wired, use a CAT 7 (*STP type) cable (100/10 Mbps recommended). For wireless, ensure the access point's SSID and password are known. The TV can automatically connect to the network. Network settings can be configured, and the network status can be checked or reset to factory defaults.
  • Mobile Device Connectivity:
    • Power On with Mobile: Turn on the TV using a mobile device connected to the same network via the SmartThings app or Apple AirPlay.
    • IP Remote: Connect an IP control device to manage the TV remotely. Requires "Power On with Mobile" to be enabled.
    • Wi-Fi Connection: Enable Wi-Fi for wireless network connections.
    • Device Name: Change the TV's name on the network.
  • Screen Sharing: Display your mobile device screen on the TV via Smart View, Apple AirPlay, or Tap View. This allows for multi-content viewing.
    • Smart View: Share the mobile screen. Disconnect or press the remote's button to turn off. Settings like aspect ratio can be adjusted via the Smart View menu on the mobile device.
    • Apple AirPlay: For iPhone/iPad users, enable "Apple AirPlay Settings" on the TV.
    • Tap View: Tap your mobile device on the TV to display its screen or the Music Wall screen (for music apps). Enable "Tap View, Tap Sound" in the SmartThings app.
  • External Device Cables: The guide details various HDMI cable types (High Speed, Premium High Speed, Ultra High Speed) for digital video and audio signals. DVI to HDMI, Optical, Component, and Composite cables are also described for different signal types.
  • Switching External Devices: Select a connected external device from the "Sources" screen to display its output. The TV can automatically switch to the device's output if it supports universal remote control.
  • Editing Device Name/Icon: Change the port name for connected external devices or add them to the Home Screen.
  • Additional Functions:
    • SmartThings: Connect and control various detected devices.
    • Camera Experience: Connect a USB camera or use the SmartThings app to connect a camera for video calls, home workouts, etc.
    • Connection Guide: Provides device connection instructions.
    • Universal Remote Setup: Register external devices to control them with the Samsung remote.
  • Connection Notes:
    • HDMI: Use HDMI cables with a thickness of 17 mm or less. Non-certified cables may cause issues. HDMI Ethernet Channel is not supported. Use cables shorter than 3m for optimal UHD quality. DVI to HDMI or HDMI to DisplayPort cables may be needed for PCs without HDMI ports. Power sync mode is automatically activated for HDMI-connected devices.
    • Audio Devices: Connect a soundbar or A/V receiver for better audio. Sound Output settings automatically adjust for optical connections. Unusual noise from audio devices may indicate a problem with the device itself. Digital audio is only available with 5.1 channel broadcasts.
    • Computers: Refer to "Read Before Connecting a Computer (Supported Resolutions)" for supported resolutions. For wireless PC-TV connection, both must be on the same network. Network-based sharing may be affected by network configuration.
    • Mobile Devices: Smart View requires mobile device mirroring support. 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi is recommended for better Screen Sharing. Wi-Fi Direct requires mobile device support. Both devices must be on the same network. Video/audio may stop intermittently due to network conditions. Network-based sharing may be affected by network configuration.
    • Portrait Mode: Supported with the Auto Rotating Accessory (sold separately). Requires changing device settings for computer/console HDMI connections.
