4. TROUBLESHOOTING
4-1. ERROR ITEMS AND DIAGNOSTIC CODES
An occurrence of an Error will make a sound of error melody for 5sec and continuously show one of the Error Displays
from the following errors.
Problem Action
Does Not Run
• Make sure:
- All wires are connected properly to their corresponding terminals.
- The dryer is plugged in.
- The door switch is functional with the door closed. See error code, dF.
• Check the motor winding resistance: 2.88 ohms between pins #3 and 4,
3.5 ohms between pins #4 and 5
• Checkpoints: Rotary selector / Blown fuse or circuit breaker / Control board / Belt cut-off switch
/ Driving motor
Motor runs but
tumbler
does not turn
• Check if: the belt is loose, broken, and/or damaged.
the idler tension spring is too weak or stretched.
the idler pulley is jammed or stuck.
Runs a few
minutes and
then stops
• Check if: lint is built up around the driving motor. The voltage measured is too low.
The blower impeller is jammed in the blower housing.
The start switch of the drive motor
is closed.
Blows fuses or trips
circuit breaker
• Is the belt connected properly?
• Do the rotor, stator, and the generator keep winding?
• Is the motor protector normal?
Otherwise, replace the PCB assembly.
Does not heat
(motor runs)
Open the heating element and check if:
• Checking if the Hi-Limit thermostat is open
• Checking if the thermal cut off is open
• Checking the resistance of thermistor
Blows fuses or
trips circuit breaker
(Gas models)
• During ignition, the dryer is designed to consume X amperages with the burner turned on.
If the dryer is using amperages above this, this indicates the house wiring, fuse box, or circuit
breaker is defective.
• Check if: the igniter harness is loose or short.The drive motor is properly grounded.
Poor gas ignition
(Gas models)
A gas dryer featuring the heater unit is designed to flame within 45 seconds at 120 VAC.
Ignition failure is indicated by one of three symptoms:
• The igniter does not glow.
• The igniter glows but does not ignite.
• The igniter ignites but goes out shortly.
The igniter does
Not glow
If the igniter does not heat up, disconnect power and using an ohmmeter,checkpoints:
• Flame sensor
• Igniter
• Gas Valve Coil
• Wiring
• Motor switch (neutral supply)
• Power connection (L1 supply)
The igniter starts
normally but fails
To ignite
If the igniter heats up but the main burner flame does not ignite, disconnect power and using
an ohmmeter, check the following:
• Secondary coil / Holding coil / Wire harness / Flame sensor if it’s closed
