This manual describes the Samsung HW-FM35 Crystal Surround Air Track (Active Speaker System), a device designed to enhance your audio experience, particularly with Samsung TVs.
The HW-FM35 is an active speaker system that delivers high-quality sound in a slim, single unit, eliminating the need for satellite loudspeakers or complex speaker cabling typically associated with conventional surround sound systems. It features SoundShare, which allows the unit to receive TV sound via a Bluetooth connection and control the audio. The 3D SOUND PLUS feature adds depth and spaciousness to your listening experience, making movies and music more immersive.
The device offers a Special Sound mode with seven different presets: MUSIC, NEWS, DRAMA, CINEMA, SPORTS, GAME, and OFF (Original Sound). These modes allow you to optimize the audio output based on the type of content you are enjoying. A Multi-function Remote Control is included, which can also control a connected Samsung TV, offering various operations with a simple button press.
The HW-FM35 supports USB Host functionality, enabling you to connect external USB storage devices like MP3 players or USB flash drives to play music files. The Bluetooth Function allows for wireless connection to Bluetooth-enabled devices, providing high-quality stereo sound without the clutter of wires.
Input Modes: The unit supports multiple input modes including D.IN (Optical Digital), AUX (Analog), BT (Bluetooth), TV, and USB. You can switch between these modes using the function button on the unit or the remote control. The display on the front panel indicates the current mode.
Bluetooth Connectivity: To connect to a Bluetooth device, press the USB/Bluetooth button on the remote. The display will show "WAIT" then "BT READY." Select "[Samsung] AirTrack" from your Bluetooth device's menu. Once connected, the display will show "BT CONNECTED" then "BT." Music played on the connected device will then be routed through the Air Track. A PIN code (0000) may be required for pairing. The Air Track supports SBC data (44.1kHz, 48kHz) and A2DP (AV) function. It can only be paired with one Bluetooth device at a time. If the Air Track is turned off or the pairing is disconnected, you will need to re-pair the device. The Bluetooth connection has an operational range of approximately 16.25 ft (5m).
SoundShare with Samsung TVs: To connect the Air Track to a Bluetooth-compatible Samsung TV, select the TV mode on the Air Track. A pairing message will appear on the TV screen, and you can select "Yes" to complete the pairing. Once paired, the Air Track will automatically connect to the TV when in TV mode. In SoundShare mode, you can control the volume and mute using either the TV remote or the Air Track remote. The "Bluetooth Standby On" function allows the Air Track to power on automatically when the TV is turned on, provided it was connected via SoundShare. This function can be toggled On/Off.
USB Playback: Connect a USB device to the USB port on the side of the unit. Press the function button repeatedly until "USB" appears on the display. The unit will then play music files from the USB device. The Air Track supports FAT16 and FAT32 file systems but not NTFS. It is recommended to use the dedicated USB cable for external USB devices.
Remote Control Functions:
TV Functions (with Samsung TVs only): The remote control can change the TV's input source (TV SOURCE), display channel information (TV INFO), select channels (TV CH), and adjust volume (TV VOL). The TV PRE-CH button moves to the previous TV channel.
Installation: The unit can be installed on a wall using the provided wall mount bracket. Ensure the wall is strong enough to support the unit's weight and that there is adequate ventilation (3-4 inches of space around it). Connect all cables before mounting. For optimal performance, install the speaker system at least 2 inches (5 cm) below the TV.
Software Upgrade: Samsung may offer firmware upgrades. These can be applied by connecting a USB drive with the upgrade files to the USB port. If multiple upgrade files exist, they must be loaded one at a time. It is recommended to back up your settings before upgrading, as they may revert to factory defaults. If an upgrade fails, format the USB device in FAT16 and try again.
Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the unit not turning on, functions not working, no sound, picture not appearing on TV, remote control not working, reversed left/right channels, and SoundShare pairing failures. Solutions include checking power connections, replacing batteries, adjusting volume, ensuring correct cable connections, updating TV firmware, and resetting the product.
